To Whom it May Concern,

Delaney Tateson was a PSI student in my grade 5/6 classroom during the 2020-2021 school
year. Throughout her practicum, Delaney demonstrated the utmost planning and preparation.
Her lesson plans were detailed and thorough, and she always shared them in the timely
manner. Her preparation for lessons was evident as she always had strong background
knowledge of the subject matter being taught. Delaney did an excellent job of utilizing the
Program of Studies, as well as student interest, to design engaging lessons which students
enjoyed. The structure of her lessons was well crafted, and she followed her lesson plans with
ease. Delaney also did an excellent job incorporating technology both into her direct instruction,
as well as into student learning and activities. She had an appropriate blend of chromebook,
paper and pencil, manipulative and other activities to engage students.

Delaney was able to communicate very effectively with students. Her voice was clear, volume
was appropriate and her vocabulary was absolutely appropriate for grade(s) taught. When
beginning lessons, Delaney was patient; ensuring she had the attention of all students before
proceeding. She was able to effectively review previously learned content, where appropriate,
and used this review to set the stage for the lesson of the day.

Delaney's lessons were excellent in terms of pacing and chunking the lesson and instructions
into sections that were manageable by the students. She had fun attention-getters to bring
students back together before an activity transition or change in classes. She incorporated clear
instructions and directions in her lessons, checked for understanding, and rephrased and/or
retaught if necessary in order to clear up any confusion. She developed appropriate wait time
throughout her practicum, and also improved her ability to direct and facilitate effective
conversations with students; demonstrating the ability to redirect them when they went off topic.
Delaney also incorporated FNMI resources and stories as appropriate within her lessons.

Delaney had experience with both formative and summative assessment during her time at
Tilley School. She was in charge of administering and assessing spelling tests to students each
week. She also provided a lot of constructive feedback for students as they worked through
writing stories, pen pal letters and step-by-step instructions found in their recipe assignment.
She provided feedback through conversation, written comments on their work as well as
comments and suggestions on Google docs. She clearly stated her expectations for lessons,
and checked for understanding throughout. Her feedback guided students to the outcomes and
results she wanted to see.

I know Delaney would be a valuable addition to any school staff. Please feel free to contact me
at any time.

Sincerely,

Lindsey Hafso
