Reflection at Midway Point: My classroom management had improved so much. I have more confidence in front of the class. The
attention getters have helped a bunch. I have been consistent with directions and expectations and the students have responded
well.

me because they respond well.
Reflection at End of Term: From start to finish my classroom management has grown to a level I didn’t think it was possible. It
keeps getting easier because I made the expectations clear from the beginning. I have been complimented on that I have good
confidence in front of the class. I also have a good foundation for lowkey interventions. I try not to call out behaviours and stop
them before they become and issue. I am comfortable with taking a student to a calm place to sort out an issue or an outburst. I
feel comfortable with where my classroom management skills are at.

Reflection at End of Term: I feel like my confidence with Indigenous material has increased. I am better able to answer questions
and find answers for the students if I do not know. I read from the Speaking our Truth book a lot which helped generate
discussions in class. A lot of the topics in the book such as residential schools and reconciliation were new topics for the
Grade5/6s. I learned that everyone has to start somewhere with their knowledge and that it is never to late to learn something
new. I will continue to use this book in my future classrooms because it was such a natural way to incorporate indigenous
knowledge into lessons. If we had free time we would read from the book and the students would ask questions. All in all I feel like
I have grown in my use of indigenous knowledge.
Inquiry Question 3 Be more creative with lesson planning and invent more engaging ways to teach the curriculum then I was
taught in school.
Reflection at Midway Point: I have come up with some really great ideas for lessons. We have published a Christmas story book in
ELA and a class recipe book which we distributed to the school. We have done some super fun art and Gym lessons as well. I have
really grown in my social lessons. In my experience as a student social studies in grade 6 was very dry. Learning about government
is a hard topic for grade 5/6s to wrap their heads around. I have been able to come up with some activities that are engaging and
educational. The kids understand the topics and it shows on the exit tickets. They ask really good questions to.
