Directions
1. Complete the apple worksheets.
2. Color the adjective apples red. Color the adverb apples green. (Color the apples in the title
box red and green, too.)
3. Cut out the apples, title box, and basket labels.
4. Get a large sheet of construction paper. Glue the title box at the
top of the page in the center.
5. Get two strips of brown construction paper. Use a scissors to
create two basket shapes, cutting the sides so that the baskets
are slightly rounded at the bottom, as shown
6. Glue the “Adverbs” strip to the middle of one basket.
Glue the “Adjectives” strip to the middle of the other basket.
7. Turn over the adjective basket. Draw a line of glue down the side,
across the bottom, and up the other side of the basket. DO NOT
PUT GLUE ACROSS THE TOP OF THE BASKET.
8. Turn it back over and glue it to the bottom left corner of the large construction paper.
9. Repeat Steps #7-8 with the adverb basket, gluing it to the bottom right corner of the paper.
10. Tuck the red adjective apples inside the basket labeled “Adjectives”.
11. Tuck the green adverb apples inside the basket labeled “Adverbs”.
Finished Example
Teacher Notes
The teacher will need to gather the following materials:
• Apple worksheets- When I photocopy these pages, I staple them into a set.
• Adjective/Adverb labels (1 set per student)
• Large sheets of construction paper (1 per student)
• Brown sheets of construction paper (pre-cut to measure 3x9 inches- 2 per student)
• Student directions page (I place this under my document camera for students to
refer to as they complete the project.)
The students will need:
• Pencil
• Black marker
• Glue
• Scissors
• Crayons or colored pencils
• I recommend checking your students’ apple leaves before they begin coloring.
When they have made any necessary changes, they can begin coloring.
• If you have limited time, you might want to tell your students not to bother cutting the
stem and leaves when they cut out their apples. (In the example photo, only about
half of the leaves are cut out along with the apple.)
• Another option if you are short on time is to tell your students to only cut out 5 red
apples and 5 green apples.
Don’t have time to color, cut, and glue? Try out the TpT Easel Activity version!
