THE ANNUNCIATION OF ANGEL GABRIEL TO MARY

ABOUT THE BIRTH OF JESUS


Luke 1:26-38

1. During the sixth month of Elisabeth pregnancy


 Elisabeth – is the wife of Zacharias
o She is the mother of John the Baptist
 Angel Gabriel appears to a Nazareth Virgin named Mary (Luke
1:26-27)
o The word Virgin is from the Hebrew word “Almah” and from the
Greek word “Parthemos” which refers to a pure virgin who was
never known a man, that never experienced marriage
relationship
2. He announces that God has chosen her to bear His blessed Son into the
World (Gal. 4:4)
3. Old testament Fulfillment
 That He would be born of A virgin (Iss. 7:14, Matt. 1:22-23)
4. The Archangel predicted that this babe:
 Would be called Jesus (Matt. 1:21)
 He shall be great, He shall be called the Son of the Highest
o The word Highest is from the Greek word “Hupsistos” which
means the most high.
5. Mary was perplexed (nalibog, natingala) (Luke 1:34)
6. The angel reassured (Luke 1:35)
 The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee
 The power of the highest shall overshadow thee
 The Holy things which shall be born of thee shall be called the son of
God.
7. Mary sweetly and simply submit to God’s Will (Luke 1:38)
 Behold the handmaid of the Lord
 Be it unto me according to thy word
