An applied engineering education is one that trains students to apply the

mathematical and scientific principles of engineering to real-world

situations, such as the development and implementation of new product

designs, the optimization of production processes, and the management

and direction of an organization's physical or technical operations.

Includes training in systems integration and control, quality assurance,

and statistics in addition to the fundamentals of engineering and

Students graduating from an applied engineering program will be able to

distinguish themselves from graduates of more traditional engineering

programs by demonstrating the following management competencies.

Maintain progress with the help of sampling tables, variable and attribute

control charts, and other applicable statistical methods.

To assess and/or implement business-wide quality management systems.


You'll need to be able to schedule production, create and manage an

inventory system, plan for production effectively, and demonstrate

knowledge of key project management concepts.
