ENGL 4021 M03 MINUTES
Meeting Date: August 30, 2022

Call to Order:

A regular meeting of the Course ENGL 4021 M03 of the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce was held in
room MTC-3 on August 30, 2022. The meeting convened at 9:10 am, Professor LeCompte presiding and
Rudesindo García Figueroa, secretary. All students attended except: Lara Ballester, Kiara Droz, Miguel
Costas, Danisha Gonzales, Derick Rivera, and Nashali Santiago.

Approval of Minutes:

Minutes of August 25, 2022, meeting were distributed to members of the course and approved after
corrections.

Matters Discussed:

1. Professor Le Compte gave the students two questions in a quiz format from the assigned
documentary: “The Future of Food”.

2. Then, the professor starts the discussion of the documentary The Future of Food with some
guiding questions.

3. Professor Le Compte discussed the meaning of keywords presented in the documentary, which
were: seed banks, Roundup, Roundup-ready seeds, G.M.O., patents, E. Coli, and monoculture.

4. The professor also discussed the five areas of linguistics, which are: phonology, morphology,
syntax, semantics, and lexicon. She gave examples of each, and to have a better understanding of
the keywords, Le Compte emphasized the definition of connotation and denotation.

Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 10:25 am.
