Activity Title: California Academy of Science

Activity summary:

In the morning of this field trip the big nice modern bus was waiting for us students to board. We

had to sign in with Mr.Kruger then we shortly left on route to the academy of science in san

francisco. When we got there it was amazing there was a big aquarium underneath the building

and exhibits everywhere around the building and also people who work there waiting to explain

what you're looking at right at that moment. There was a big africa exhibit with fake animals that

looked real and ancient skulls dating back B.C and also had a. Rainforest exhibit was humid

inside with fish and just like if you were in a rainforest it was so cool and butterflies. In the side

of the building entering the aquarium stairs to go downstairs there is a albino alligator chilling

with some snapping turtles. It was cool and then they had a cafe with a weird clock that would

knock down a stick every 5 minutes or something like that it would get really close but wont

knock it down. They also had an earthquake simulator and had a T Rex skeleton at the entrance

and also had whale bones on display by the rainforest exhibit.

Reflection:

Once we boarded the bus you get to sit where you want so I sat in the back of the bus once we

arrived. There was a lady who was in charge of checking in the schools who go there but before

we lined up to check in we took a group photo before we entered the building . There was

another building across from the one we were going in. There was a weird ferris wheel and like

a mini park in the center. Once we walked through the doors they gave us 2 hours to spend it

how we like then. We would have to meet at the at the planetarium at twelve I went walking

around the building walking around looking at different exhibits then once it was time to enter

the planetarium as a class we had to line up to enter and there was also different schools from
different areas also going to be in there with us but we ended watching a video about the coral

of the world and how coral is endangered. Then we had time to eat then went back onto the bus

and headed back to school.

Off the coast of Tahiti there was a scientist from the National France Centre for scientific

research named Laetitia Hedouin who was on a diving expedition with colleagues when. They

couldn't believe that the coral was so healthy they found it between 35 and 70 meters below sea

level and first they presumed there was only two corals species who took up the majority of all

the coral but as they ventured deeper into the ocean they found and different species of coral

thriving between 50 to 55 meters down below sea level they were excited and happy about this

discovery.“ It’s a very healthy reef, like a dream come true” said by Laetitia Hedouin, who

believed this was very good news to see because of the biodiversity crisis happening on earth.
