The Deepest Cave

The Deepest Cave was a presentation on a group of people exploring the world's
deepest cave located in Oaxaca, Mexico. When the group was in the cave, they tried
going as far as they could, they eventually got deep enough to see and hear the
Cheve River. During the video, they talked about how many days reach what point in
the cave. For example, 22.5 days- ground level, 22.9- Danger of Flash flood, 23.0-
Oxygen levels plummeting, 24.6- impossible rescue. They also talked about Pablo
Durana and how he took 2 expectations, 1 being in Green;and, Antarctica being his
favorite but most dangerous. The group camped out at a basecamp and some
members stayed behind to take care of the basecamp, while other members
climbed down the cave. Whenw watching the video, I noticed they had lots of food
supplies kept on the base camp but being stored in large jars which seemed to have
locks so animals could stay out. Inside the cave, there were lots of boulders, and
climbing holds that the climbers climbed through.
Reflection:

In my opinion, I thought the video was interesting. Personally, I usually

don’t find videos like these interesting but there was a lot of action and
facts in the video that kept me interested and involved. Something I
found particularly interesting was when the members climbed through
the holes in the cave, they found new things. A good example is when
they climbed down far enough to see the Cheve River. Another thing I
found interesting, was they actually showed what was inside the cave
and their journey in the cave in the film.
Article

I read a National Geographic article about caves. The article was a

page long with 3 paragraphs. This article told readers about where
caves could be found, ( inside cliffs, edge of coastlines, chipped away by
waves…) This article also informs readers about the formation process of
caves. Water and acidic tinge come together and form rock. Something
that is similar about this article and the video I watched, was that both
the article and video gave information on caves. This article was
interesting to me because it didn't just talk about one specific topic on
caves but it talked about lots of different facts and the process of a cave
making.
