The Deepest Cave

The film ”The deepest cave” is about the assumption and dream that this cave is the

deepest cave in the world. Bill Stone, the director of this search, is on a mission to make

this cave the deepest cave in the world. Bill gathers some of the best cavers from all

over the world and starts to work with them on this mission. Since this is a risky sport,

each caver is assigned to a job and trained. They train on a rebalay course which

checks for equipment failure and tests the person on their skill. The course is a good

way to refresh the caver on climbing the sturdy and unsturdy rocks. This is essential to

a safety procedure because going caving is a very dangerous sport, it's even called an

extreme sport. Bill Stone has been working on this project for 30 years and in those 30

years he has made 5 camps in the cave each one at least 4 kilometers away from the

other. The cave is located in Oaxaca Mexico and has a big opening on the mountain's

surface. Each camp is at least a few hours and kilometers or less away from each other.

After a few minutes, the main team finds a way out of the debris and makes it to the

camp that is now 5.5. Going deeper into the cave, supplies take more time to come

through. When camp 6 was found supplies would take at least 3 days to get them down

to the main team that was always traveling and searching for new openings to resume

their voyage. Camp 6 was a 100ft high room, 60 meters tall and 50 meters wide. Since

camp 6 had a huge open space, the cavers would say when you sang it would sound

like a chorus singing with you. After going through waters and weaving through rocks,

the team found themselves on the now 7th camp. Since it was a large distance away

from the 6th camp, they were short on supplies and time so they had no choice but to
leave the mission uncompleted. Bill believes this mission will be open again and still

believes that this is the world's deepest cave.

My first impression on this film was that it was very intriguing. Honestly, I wasn't looking

forward to watching a film called “The world's deepest cave” on a Thursday night

because I mostly watch animated movies but, to my surprise,it was actually quite

interesting. Right off the bat they started talking about the cave they were about to

explore. I liked this because I was able to take notes on the cave with ease, but the

photos they showed of the mountain were beautiful! It gave me a good idea of what the

mountain's terrain looked like. At times it was very stressful. The way they squeezed

passed rocks was really scary to me because when you’re caving, there really isn't

much of a rescue team. Nonetheless it made the film much more thrilling. This story was

very interesting and I loved how all the cavers were so fired up and passionate about

the mission. At times I wondered, “would I be able to do this?” or “would I find

something I'm so passionate about?”. For the first question, I’d say obviously absolutely

no. Caving is a whole other world and not just that, it's really scary as a person who gets

claustrophobic on rollercoaster rides. But as for the second question, I guess I would

have to find out on the way. I have a long road ahead of me and this fim just opened my

eyes to something I can admire.

Veryokinda Cave

This page was last edited on 4 December 2022, at 21:27 (UTC).

The article I read talks about Veryovkina Cave, the deepest known cave in the world.

The cave reaches an impressive depth of 2,212 meters (7,257 ft) deep in Abkhazia , a

breakaway region of georgia. Its entrance is 2,285 meters (7,497 ft) above sea level.

From 2000 to 2015 the speleoclub "Perovo" and its team "Perovo-speleo" researched

the cave bottom. Despite the effort, the deepest known cave depth remained at 440 m

(1,440 ft). August 2017, the "Perovo-speleo" team reached a depth of 2,204 m (7,231

ft), thus setting a new world depth record. A huge system of more than 20,000 ft. March

2018 – another expedition of the same team added more than a kilometer of tunnels to

the cave map. August 2019 – the final cave length, 2,212 meters (7,257 ft), was

surveyed by members of the speleoclub "Perovo". This cave was confirmed the deepest

cave in the world by 2018 and It took years of planning and caution to find out about all

the roots the cavers had to take. Bill Stone has been studying the oaxaca cave for years

so even if there is a slight chance, he might actually make the cave in oaxaca the

deepest cave in the world. As of now the cave Bill Stone is studying is about 5,000 feet

so its cutting it close to the depth of the deepest cave in the whole world.
