ENGL 4021- M03

Reflection:
During this semester this class has been a great challenge for me. I don’t have a lot of difficulty

talking English, but writing has always been a struggle for me. Having to take a class that

requires a lot of dedication and time has been strong to apply myself. The class started doing

something simple like free writing, this allowed us to relax and accelerate the process of writing.

Yet the art of writing on demand is very staining on the mind when you must translate as you go.

Dr. Pier A. Le Compte Zambrana taught us the importance of knowing more than your audience

as well as the ABC format. I learned to write for the public in general and not for oneself. We

must focus on what kind of people are going to read our writings and in the same way always

provide clear, precise, and concise writing. To help us improve the professor assigned technical

projects such as minutes, trip report, technical email, resume, cover letter, and a progress report.

These assignments really challenge me to improve my lexicon and the way I can convey the

message across. I learned how to take minutes for the efficacy of the meetings and how to write

them in an active voice. Above all the Progress Report was a very tedious job, it requires a lot of

time and research, as well as hard work at the atabey garden. The use of the Atabey garden for

the volunteer work was great, the students would relax and have fun, and get their hands dirty in

the process. A combination of academic and labor work that I think is necessary to create a well-

rounded citizen. For us to become better thinkers we must create the habit of writing even if we

don’t know how to transform the message into words. Writing constantly about personal

experiences gives you the tranquility of knowing where you are going as you write. At the end

of this course, I found myself very pleased with the experience acquired and the progress I made,

I wish for more courses of this caliber on the rest of my academic journey.
