Introduction

This document presents a model test plan to support testing and

validation activities during the integration and deployment stages of
standard traffic signals to confirm that the system is developed,
installed, and operating as specified by the system requirements.

Each standard traffic signal deployment will be different, and the

testing and validation performed will likely vary depending upon the
complexity of the system and the familiarity with the vendor products.

Before we plan, testing for a traffic signal, let’s first understand the
lights.

• Red – stop and wait before the zebra crosses the line.
• Green – go.
• Yellow – stop, unless

1) You’ve already crossed the stop line after the green light is off.

2) You’re so close to it that pulling up might cause an accident.

3) You’re in the middle of the road and should move to the next
side rather than going back causing a traffic problem.

Objectives
• The traffic signal allows government to handle the traffic jam.
• It is an automated system.
• This system based on solar energy.
• It saves much Human Energy.

Scope
• All Traffic Signal Features need to be tested.

System Design

This project is about traffic signal management. Which allow

managing the traffic on a four-way road. The system Will consist of
four signals on each road. The system Will manage the signal timing
according to the size of traffic on a road parallel to it by measuring
the traffic lined up on a particular road. The Signal timings are
adjusted to let that particular way clear out and then the next
populated one. The system should have following features: -

1) Same time interval between all signal lights.

2) The system should allow smooth and efficient traffic flow
around the all four lanes.
3) The system should dynamically schedule the signals
4) The system should enhance the traffic signal performance
5) The system should have the ability to reduce traffic Jam.

Test Items:
• Create a document
• Working with Traffic signal setup
• Showing correct signal

Item Pass/Fail criteria:

All test cases with high priority are closed with result - pass, The test
coverage is checked and sufficient. where the criterion of sufficiency
is not less than 99% of s/w coverage of requirements by tests. The test
report was compiled and approved by the team lead and Customer.

Test Tasks:
• Writing a test plan.
• Writing test cases.
• Development of criteria for the success of testing.
• Conducting the testing and evaluation of s/w results.
• Creating test reports.

Test Schedule:
The deadline for completion of all works and delivery of the project is
05/12/2022 12:12:12

Test Deliverables:
• Test plans
• Test cases documents
• Test Design specifications.

Risks and Contingencies:

Possible risks during testing:

• Insufficient human resources for testing the application in

deadlines.
• Changing the requirements for product.

Approvals:
1. Team Lead
2. Test engineer 1
3. Test engineer 2

Test Cases for Traffic Signal
Sr Test Test Case Description Status
No.
Case ID

1 TC_1 Check if the traffic Signal Light stand Pass

has all three lights (green, yellow, and
red) as per the requirement.

2 TC_2 Check-in during the expected hours the Pass

traffic signal lights are on as per rules.

3 TC_3 Check the sequence of turn-on traffic Pass

Signal lights are based on the specified
time (green light- 4.1 min, yellow light
10 sec, red light 1 min).

4 TC_4 Check only one traffic Signal light Pass

should glow at a time.

5 TC_5 Check if the stop signal is shown with a Pass

red light on the traffic light.

6 TC_6 Check the traffic light for a wait unless a Pass

signal is shown with yellow or amber
colour.

7 TC_7 Check if the traffic light for the go is Pass

shown green.

8 TC_8 Check if the traffic lights during off- Pass
hours show blinking in yellow or amber
colour displaying off for rules.

9 TC_9 Check if the speed of the Traffic Signal Pass

light can be accelerated as the time
specified based on the traffic.

10 TC_10 Check if the Traffic Signal lights in some Pass

spots are sensor activated.

11 TC_11 Check the height of the traffic lights as Pass

per the requirement so normal human
eyes can see it properly at night and day.

12 TC_12 Check the availability of poles with the Pass

traffic signal lights in all 4 directions
(North South East West)

13 TC_13 Check the sequence of multiple signal Pass

posts is in sync at the crossroads.

Conclusion

These are some of the test cases that we can use to test the
traffic signal post. There are many other product-specific test
cases that we can develop. By using the Traffic Signal, we can
handle big traffic. It saves lot of time and human resource.
