ZXSDR R8892N M8090 Product Description

1 Overview

1.1 Introduction

This document provides a high level description of ZTE ZXSDR R8892N M8090
(hereinafter referred to as ‘R8892N’). It is a new compact distributed remote radio unit
(RRU) with ultra broadband of band 8 &20, high output power and low power
consumption. Based on ZTE common software defined radio (SDR) platform, R8892N
works in GSM/UMTS/LTE/NB-IoT single mode or multi-mode at the two frequency bands.
The volume of R8892N is about 20L, and its weight is 23kg.

The document is designed to give an overview of the characteristics of R8892N in band 8

& 20, its key benefits, architecture, functionality and services, as well as the system
capabilities.

In this document, G is short for GSM, U is short for UMTS, L is short for FDD LTE, and I
is short for NB-IoT.

Note: To be compliant with Radio Equipment Directive (RED) of European Union, this
device is restricted to use and put into service due to the need for a spectrum license
and/or the conditions attached to authorization for the use of frequencies within all
European Union countries (BE/BG/CZ/DK/DE/EE/IE/EL/ES/FR/HR/IT/CY/LV/LT/LU/HU/
MT/NL/AT/PL/PT/RO/SI/SK/FI/SE/UK).

1.2 Benefits

 Band 8+band 20 Dual-band in one Box

R8892N is based on ZTE dual-band technology. It supports band 8 & 20 in one box,
reducing module number and saving installation room to deploy network both in
band 8 & 20 for operators.

 Multi-Mode RRU

4 ZTE Confidential & Proprietary

ZXSDR R8892N M8090 Product Description

R8892N is fully software defined. R8892N M8090 supports LTE/NB-IoT in band 20

and GSM/UMTS/LTE or GSM/UMTS/NB-IoT in band 8 simultaneously. It satisfies
operators’ requirements of hybrid network deployment and long term evolution with
lowest cost.

 Flexible Antenna Connection

R8892N provides four antenna ports for different scenarios. With four antenna ports,
the electrical antenna down tilt of band 8 & band 20 can be configured separately.

1.3 Application Scenarios

Remote Radio Unit (RRU) R8892N and Baseband Unit (BBU) make up a distributed
macro base station. R8892N, with dual-band, high output power and compact dimension,
is suitable for band 8 & 20 dual-band network deployment.

Typical connection of a distributed base station is shown in Figure 1- 1.

over-voltage/under-voltage, output over-current alarm, and reporting to TRX board.

2.3 Functionality

R8892N is the remote radio unit of distributed base station. The signal is transmitted
/received through R8892N to/from base band processing unit for further processing via
standard CPRI interface.

By applying the distributed system, the feeder loss will be eliminated when the radio unit
is positioned close to the antenna. The coverage is enlarged with this solution.
