Background Information (SAPP)
• Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) was created in 1995
with the aim to provide reliable and economical electricity
to supply to the consumers of each of the SAPP
members, consistent with efficient utilisation of natural
resources and the effect on the environment.
• SAPP has twelve member countries represented by their
respective electric power utilities organised through
Southern African Development Community (SADC).
