1. Does the statement “The Philippines is cheap” possibly miscommunicate a message? How?
Yes, based on the attached video, the statement “The Philippines is cheap” can miscommunicates
the message. In fact, when I first read it without watching the related video, I had negative reactions to it
because it seems to me that the Philippines, my home country, was being belittled simply by this
statement. Hence, the reason why it can miscommunicate the message is that the context of the statement
is not provided and/or understood by the readers and listeners.
