Editorial Note.

I MUST express my regret at the delay in publishing this volume, containing

as it does, the second half of the 1920 Royal Academy Review. I have

experienced great difficulty in trying to accomplish a difficult and self-imposed

task. The Architectural Review Section has undergone considerable change.

Instead of publishing, without any special arrangement, material that might

come to hand, I have endeavoured to give, in addition to the half-yearly

Review of the Royal Academy Architectural Exhibition a number of subjects

of at least 16 pages each: thus in this Volume sections on Interior Domestic

Architecture, Sculpture, Theatres and Cinemas, Offices and Business Premises,

are added, and Garden Architecture and Cottage Homes commenced in

Volume 51 have been continued.

The contents of Volume 53, as far as the above sections are concerned,

is assured, and will be published in September. It is hoped also to add

illustrations on Hospitals.

I am, of course, open to receive Drawings and Photographs on any subject,

and they will receive every consideration and will no doubt assist me to

complete sections that are in the making.

It was with considerable regret that I was obliged to recommend

Mr. Robert Atkinson to consent to my abandoning the proposed book on
American Architectural Details advertised in Volume 51.

It gives me great pleasure in recommending to the profession Sydney

W. Newbery as a thoroughly capable photographer, and it is mainly due to
his whole-hearted assistance that I have been able to secure many satisfactory

illustrations for this and future issues.
