Find the Error (Worksheet)

Class 7
Chapter 9 - Congruent Triangles

Find the error if any. If there is an error, mention the step and correct it

S.No. Questions Correction,(if any)

Q1

In the given figure, PS| | QR. And PS=QR.

(i) Is ∠SPR=∠QRP?
(ii) Is ΔPSR↔ ∆RQP by SAS congruency?
(iii)State the three matching parts you have used
to answer part (ii).
Solution: (i) Yes
(ii) In ΔPSR and ΔRQP,
PS = QR (given)
∠SPR=∠QPR (Alternate interior angle)
PR=PR (common)
So, ΔPSR↔ΔRQP by SAS congruency.
Q2.

Look at the figure carefully and state which pairs of

triangles are congruent. Also write the three
matching parts and congruence condition.
Solution: In ∆ABD and ∆ACD,
AB =AC (Given)
BD =CD (Given)
AD =AD (Given)
So, ∆ABD ↔ ∆ ADC by SSS congruence condition

Q3 (i)Which pair of triangles are congruent by ASA

congruence condition?Write the congruence of the
two triangles in symbolic form.
(ii)State the three facts you have used to answer
(i)

Solution: (i) △ABC⩭△DCB

(ii) In triangles ABC and DBC
a) ∠ABC= ∠DCB (=60°) (Given)
b) BC = BC (Common)
c) ∠B = ∠C (Given)
Q4 ΔABC is isosceles with AB=AC and AD is the
altitude from A on base BC.
(i)Is ΔADB⩭ΔADC? If yes, by which congruence
condition?
(ii)State 3 pairs of matching parts that you use to
arrive at your answer.
(iii) Is it true to say that BD=CD?Why?

Solution: (i) Yes , By SAS congruency condition

(ii) a) AB=AC (given)
b) ∠D = ∠D (given)
c) AD = AD (common)
(iii) yes , by CPCT

Q5 Show that △QPS and △QRS are concurrent. Also

write the criterion by which the concurrency holds.
Hence show that ∠QPS =∠QRS.

Solution:
In △QPS and △QRS
QP=QR (common points)
PS= SR (Given)
∠PSQ= ∠RSQ (given)

So, △QPS ⩭ △QRS (By SAS)

Therefore,
∠QPS =∠QRS (by CPCT)

Q6 AD and BC are two line segments intersecting at O

such that AO=5.5cm, BO= 6.2 cm, CO= 6.2cm and
DO=5.5cm.
Show that △ AOB ⩭ △DOC.

Solution:
In △AOB and △ DOC,
AO=DO (=5.5CM, GIVEN)
∠AOB=∠DOC ( Vertically Opposite Angles)
BO=CO (=6.2CM, GIVEN)

So, △ AOB ⩭ △DOC (by SAS)

Q7 Given below is the measurement of some

parts of two triangles. Examine whether the
two triangles are congruent or not, by using
SAS congruence rule.
If the triangles are congruent, write them in
symbolic form.

Solution:
Two triangles are congruent by SAS congruent.
△ABC⩭△DEF
