THE BRAVE GIRL

~ Let's proceed to the next slide

•BRIEF BACKROUND OF THE AUTHOR (CARRION)

- Which this contain the brief background of the author, unfortunately according to our research and
some sources says that there is no actually a specific author who wrote this story. The only thing I know
is this story came from the story of the lenape people and that is what we would like to discuss further if
who are the lanape people, a brief background to their life and how these literatures was made and
some of it become a popular.

• LENAPE SLIDE (CASURAO)

LENI LENAPE

The Lenape, also called the Lenni Lenape and Delaware, are Native American people of the Northeastern
Indian Tribes, who live in Canada and the United States. Their historical territory included New Jersey
and eastern Pennsylvania along the Delaware River watershed, New York City, western Long Island, and
the Lower Hudson Valley. the Lenape lived in numerous small towns along the rivers and streams that
fed the waterways.

Delaware River

— In the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, the Delaware River is a significant river. along the
borders of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey. The Delaware River crosses five different states and
provides drinking water to more than 13 million people, making it a significant U.S. waterway. For all
living things, it is a necessity.

CHIEF TAMANEND STATUE PHILADELPIA

William Penn was greeted by the main Lenni-Lenape leader Chief Tamanend also known as Tammany,
Temane, Taminent, Tamanend is known as the "Affable One" in the native tongue. The famous "Treaty
of Amity and Friendship" between William Penn and Tamanend and his Indian associates is symbolized
by the eagle's grabbing of a wampum belt.

HAVE PRODUCED OR WRITTEN MANY FANTASTIC STORIES

there are some certain authors who wrote stories and become popular because on their fantastic stories
they made that was inspired by their interpretation of Lenape culture and language. Including this story
of the Brave Girl which includes the lenape and their life.

LIVES IN RIVERS OR BODY OF WATER

The diet of the Lenape also included meat, fish and fowl and, at times, locusts. The Lenape depended
entirely on hunting for their meat. Fish and shellfish were important in the Lenape diet, and fishing was
often a cooperative venture. Shad and other fish, plentiful in the Delaware and its tributaries.

you.

NEXT!

• FIRST SLIDE (STORY) (CARRION) ~PLOT

— In a large forest there is a family living near by the river as what I mentioned earlier that the lenape
people used to live in along in river or near in body of water. But, the only one thing is important in this
part they lived happily.

— Imagine you're living in the forest and if I were in their situation I don't think so that me and my
family would still be happy. But, them? In here the brave girl said they are happy. Just the contentment
as long as they are safe, surviving in the forest and whole as a family this make sense for them to be
grateful and be happy. That's the most important it can be applied till now.

~ Okay let's move on

(CASURAO)

— So here it comes, the winter season. If here in our country, we have typhoon and this could make us
feel like winter because it's strong wind and together with the hard rain. What's more in real winter
season? They are freezing in cold and there goes the snows are everywhere.

NEXT!

•SECOND SLIDE (CARRION)

— Due to the winter and it might be super cold that time, if you were in their situation what would be
the first thing will come up to your mind to survive? Yes! And that is to make a fire in order to heat
themselves and make them feel warmer.

NEXT!

•THIRD SLIDE (CARRION)

— We were only about to go in exciting part just like what the meme says "papunta palang tayo sa
exciting part" The brave girl, her mother, father and sister they are talking to each other planning if who
will be the one to get a woods for them to use it so they could make a fire. The father said: "We must
make a fire or we will die. My daughter, please find firewood.”

• FATHER SLIDE (CASURAO) 4th slide

— since she is the older sister she's the one who asked to go outside and look for a firewood’s to use.

NEXT

• MOTHER SLIDE (CARRION) 5th slide

— Her mother replied: (“It is dark and I am afraid of bears. You should wait for tomorrow.”)—
despite of their situation, her mother is worrying for her daughter because it's dark outside and
there are a lot of bears she don't know what might happen to her daughter. A mother is a
mother (just to give an example, myself. I'm a only child and I'm a girl my parents are strict and
one of their rules is to not going anywhere when it's already dark outside because it's true that
we don't know what might happened to me there are a lots of people nor a person we can't
trust might as well put ourselves in danger) and that's just like how represents her worried
mother and her fears about the bears.

NEXT!

• SISTER SLIDE (CASURAO) 6th slide

And there her little sister goes and said: (“If she
waits, maybe when morning comes we won't be alive.”) — look at that, imagine you're in their
scenario and what you would do? The terrible cold may worsen and might leads them to death if for the
whole entirely night they didn't make a fire. What our brave girl will do since she's the one her father
ask for to go outside and look for a firewoods?

NEXT!

• BRAVE GIRL SLIDE (CARRION) 7th slide

— and that is when our brave girl replied and said: (I am not afraid.) — if I'm her sister and she's my
daughter I would be lucky and proud to have her because she's fearless. She can see that if no one who
could. She have no choice but she will be the only chance so they could survive. She has no fear, when
she said "I'm not afraid" it's because of her love to her family. To help them.

NEXT!

• 8th SLIDE (CASURAO)

— she doesn't have any carrying with her, only herself she has. Can you believe it? She literally set aside
her fear for her family. And then when she leave it's true what her mother said. It's dark and so quiet
like everyone is asleep. Maybe because it is already night and everyone are in their houses.

NEXT!

•9th SLIDE (CARRION)

— As she walk along the forest since it is very quiet at that time she hears minimal sounds at her
surroundings. And she was afraid that it might be the bear that her mother's talking about she fears to
encounter in the forest. If you're going to think you're in the forest, right? And the only thing will come
up to your mind is the different kind of animals and there it is she's aware that there a lot of great bear
we don't know that she might encounter. A little while she is walking she begin to feel cold.

NEXT!

•10th SLIDE (CASURAO)

— despite of her worry about the bears and her fears to encounter them. She bravely continue to walk,
the trees are big and all she's looking for is a small one so she could cut it and carry those woods back at
their home.

NEXT!

• 11th SLIDE (CARRION)

— So as she's walking around and looking for a small tree. She find one and immediately cut it. And she
pray for him. See, the power of praying. Maybe she pay gratitude to him for giving her strength and a
tree that they could use to make a fire. After she was finally have the woods despite of it heaviness she
carry it and went back to their house. Our brave girl is not only brave as she conquer her fears but also
has the strength that can break the gender stereotypes that what man can do is what woman can also
do. As soon, as she arrived in their house the freezing cold aura welcome her, she immediately give the
woods she brought and they immediately make a fire and finally warmed their house and that's when
their problem was finally solved and that is thanks to our brave girl, their daughter and a as a sister of
her little sister.
NEXT!

•12th SLIDE (CASURAO)

- the brave girl went to her family and fearless looking at them while saying(“I did not see those
bears.”). She deserves the spotlight, right? Yes. She accomplished the task given by her father. She
conquer her fear and she save themselves out of being freezing in cold.

NEXT!

•13th SLIDE (CARRION)

— and that's her mother replied with such an a gratefulness and a proud mother looking at their
daughter and said(“This daughter is very brave.").

~~~
— and there is where the story end. I’m hoping that after we discussed this story for everyone who
listen attentively in our discussion may touch your heart and awakening 'your mind to a lesson that this
story of lenape people brings to all of you as of today.
•••
~Let's proceed to our Moral and lesson of our story that today I'm going to share after we explore the
journey of our brave girl in the story together with her family.
NEXT!
•MORAL (CASURAO)
— in here, this only tells us that despite of what your mind dictating you if it's bad for you nor good. The
most important and powerful among us is still the our hearts. Because of our love, our feelings even
though that sometimes, it happens in real life. Every one of us can tell if we do really want to do a
certain act or decision but, because of our great, pure and big heart we tend to follow what our heart
told us to do and it has a lot of reasons why. But the only important in here is, you. Because it’s you,
who should be the one to control and choose between your heart or mind if it’s an act of love.
•LESSON (CARRION)
— How do we apply this in ourselves? What does this want to convey? Simply, sometimes we are
blinded in our fear that most of time we failed to do what ourselves do really wanted to do, just always
remember that our fear must not control us. Instead of to be stuck in one place and to stop. Face your
fear, there are something you can do more. Each of us has our own fear but if our courage, dedication
and most important our LOVE is more stronger than our fear, think of it. We can face it, we can go out of
our zone and fight the every challenges in our life even if it is given by him from above. Because
everything has a reason. And one of our reason is to fight, to be brave just like the brave girl. If you can,
then only yourself who can help you.
NEXT!
• SYMBOLISM (CASURAO)
— As what you can see in here we have our TREE, FIRE, BEAR.
~ It only means that these are symbolized the HOPE, LIFE and LOVE.
~ Without TREES how they are going to make fire, which is it stands for HOPE. Without FIRE how they
are going to survive in freezing night, which gives them source to survive and specifically a LIFE and for
the last one, BEAR. With this it's fearsome but represents how stronger our LOVE than of FEAR.
NEXT!
•CLOSING/ Q&A (CARRION)
~ We’re now in the end our discussion, Before we end this I would like to ask if any of you has a question
regarding to our story today.
~if none.
~ Thank you very much for attentively listening, I hope that everyone learned a lesson and made you
inspired. I would just like to leave this quote “I figure, if a girl wants to be a legend, she should go ahead
and be one.” – Calamity Jane. That’s all, once again thank you and have blessed day ahead!
• What was the connection of the story to the lenape people?
— base on my what I have been understand and observe to the story it is the story from the people of
lenape, basically this is trying to show what kind of life has the lenape people that is one of the main
event happened and it acknowledge the bravery of a young girl and used as a inspiration to make this
story from the people of Lenape people: the brave girl. what kind of life do they have. And how this
people managed to survive despite of some difficulties they are experiencing because of the love as a
one whole family they are still happy and continue to their journey just like what the brave girl did for
her family.
