Evaluation

1. Choose any coin denomination of the Philippines and indicate its security
features and the year it the first minted.

The Philippine peso is derived from the Spanish dollar or pieces of eight
brought over in large quantities by the Manila galleons of the 16th to 19th
centuries. The same Spanish peso or dollar are derived from the various pesos
of Latin America, the US and Hong Kong dollars, and the Chinese yuan and the
Japanese yen.

2. Choose any bill/ note of Philippine money and indicate its obverse and reverse
security features and its first year minted.

Banknotes of the Philippine peso are issued by the Bangko Sentral ng


Pilipinas  (Central Bank of the Philippines) for circulation in the Philippines.
The smallest amount of legal tender in wide circulation is ₱20 and the largest
is ₱1000. The front side of each banknote features prominent people along
with buildings, and events in the country's history while the reverse side
depicts landmarks and animals.

These coins were minted to honor a specific person or recognize the


significance of a place or event that made a mark in the history of Philippines.
Most of these commemorative coins are minted from precious metals like gold
and silver making them extraordinary and more expensive. The following are the
commemorative Philippine Peso coins issued since 1947: Commemorative coins
may vary in size with the ordinary circulation coins.
