Experience as a Job Requirement

One of the basic needs of people to survive and meet their need is work. But
many people cannot be able to survive because of being unemployed. According to Trading
Economics, from 8.9% in the same month a year earlier, the Philippines unemployment rate fell
drastically to 5% in September 2022, the lowest level since December 2019. In applying job, one
of the requirements to get hired is experience. Many are not accepted due to a lack of
experience. Moreover, relevant experience is previous employment that is pertinent to the job
you are aiming in terms of necessary skills or expertise. Fresh graduates are looking for job in
order to gain experience. Experience should not be a primary requirement in applying job
because they learn to be adaptable and they posses transferable skills.
These applicants not only take initiative, but they also probably show more
adaptability. An applicant with years of experience in the position can be accustomed to certain
ways of thinking and operating. In comparison to an applicant who is new to the sector, they
are likely to have established a personal set of routines, procedures, and cultures that can be
more difficult to change without prior experience. Applicants must be adaptable and driven to
affect change. It can be simpler to train them to use the procedures or processes your
organization uses. Additionally, depending on the demands of the organization , they are more
likely to be open to future change.
Applicants without prior experience are frequently recent graduates, but they
can also be experienced workers changing careers in the middle of their careers. In addition to
experience, you can consider an applicant’s transferable skills. Transferable skills can be used in
a variety of roles. In contrast to technical skills like data analysis, coding or accounting,
transferable skills can be assets across functions and industries. These include soft skills like
effective communication and problem-solving as well as a mix of hard and soft ones like project
or team management. Examining transferrable skills can reveal a pool of high-potential
applicants who exhibit a willingness to pick up new material quickly. They are also developed
throughout the course of a career or as a component of one’s personal characteristics.
To entice these professionals to apply, many entry-level positions state that
they prefer experienced applicants. Applicants with more experience in the profession typically
more refined skill sets within their area of specialization. Although hiring managers can indicate
that they prefer or require applicants to have experience for an entry-level job, you can still
apply for positions even if you have little direct experience in the industry. Hiring
managers can prefer to hire these types of applicants because they can be more likely to
have the skills needed to perform their duties. It is frequently possible to qualify as an applicant
for an entry-level position by processing broad skills like time management, organization,
communication, and teamwork.
In conclusion, experience as a job requirement depends on the standards of
the company. But I prefer to not make it a primary requirement in applying for jobs because
you can still gain experience and you can be the best employee depending on your hard work
and dedication.
