1. What were the issues and concerns on RA 1425?

RA 1425 or the Rizal Law mandates all educational institutions in the Philippines to offer
courses about Jose Rizal, which then sparked numerous issues and concerns. The Roman
Catholic Church in the Philippines and those connected to it are the biggest opponents of
enforcing this rule. Because the blasphemies performed by the late priest are recorded in Dr. Jose
Rizal's works and writings. such as how they defraud and how they take advantage of women
while in power. They objected because they understood that what the late priest did at the time
would reflect poorly on them in the eyes of the public. The church also charged Senator Claro M.
Recto, who was the main proponent of the Rizal Bill, with being a communist and an anti-
Catholic. Other issues to this also include that these writings of Rizal present false picture of
conditions in the country at that time and was put to ridicule the Catholic Faith. They feared that
the bill would violate freedom of conscience and obviously, the religion.

2. Are you in favor of RA 1425? (Explain your answer)

After I have read and watched all documentations about the RA 1425 or the Rizal Law,
my stand is that I am in favor of this knowing that the goal of the Rizal Law is to establish
regulations that will help people learn more about the life, works, and writings of Dr. Jose Rizal,
our country's national hero, particularly his books Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. This
will provide students and future generations with a thorough history and help them comprehend
Jose Rizal's selfless sacrifice of his life for our nation. As a Filipino citizen, this law will also
strengthen our nationalism, patriotism and could possibly be our guide to much more understand
our history and the courage of Dr. Jose Rizal to face the Spaniards at his time. Lastly, this can
make Filipinos, especially the students of this generation, recognize Dr. Jose Rizal as a national
hero and make him an inspiration for them to also love and appreciate our country.
