This chapter describes operations, using the USB port of the tester, from the USB connection
with the PC to saving data to the PC.

3.1 Outline of Connection and Operation

- 32 -
3.1 Outline of Connection and Operation
The tester is equipped with the built-in memory in the inside to save the accumulated
measured results and administration data. This memory, with the USB connection to the PC,
can be accessed from the PC.

Selecting USB Connection in the Main Menu appears the USB Connection screen.
Entering the password according to Section 2.3 System Settings enables the tester, using USB
cable, to be connected with the PC.

Enter the password

set on the
System(1/2) screen.

Fig. 3-1 USB Connection Screen Image

Connected with information equipment such as personal computers (PCs) via the USB, the
tester is recognized as a removable hard disk. This connection enables software such as
application-software for operating files to access the inner parts in the tester.

To disconnect the tester with the PC, shift the removable disk to “removable“ state by the PC
operation and then touch the Disconnect button on the screen of the tester to be disconnected.

Fig. 3-2 USB Connected Screen

- 33 -
Note 1: For PC operation, refer to “Operation Manual” attached to the PC, or ask the
manufacturing vendor for information.
Note 2: In connecting the tester with PC via USB, use the USB cable attached to the tester.
Note 3: In releasing the USB connection, never fail to shift the USB to “removable“ state
and then disconnect the tester with PC via USB.
Releasing the USB connection during accessing the tester from the PC may cause
troubles of the tester.
Note 4: USB connection with the tester is used only for exchanging dedicated data, e.g.,
the measured results, between the PC and the tester. The tester cannot be used for
general purpose removable media like commercial hard disk with USB.
When copied, the data except the dedicated one is generally deleted; this may
contribute to malfunction depending on files. Therefore never fail to copy only the
dedicated data.
Note 5: The password, “0000”, is set at factory shipment. We recommend the password
should be changed before the tester is first used.
