2. (15 points) For a function f , you are given the graph of the derivative f 0 in in the figure below
and that f (0) = 50.

(a) On the interval 0 ≤ t ≤ 5, at what value of t does f appear to reach its maximum value?
Its minimum value? Explain.

(b) Estimate these maximum and minimum values.

(c) Write an exact expression for f (5) − f (0) in terms of f 0 (t).

3. (10 points) True/False and Explain:

(a) If an object has constant nonzero acceleration, then the position of the object as a function
of time is a quadratic polynomial.

(b) Every continuous function has an antiderivative.

4. (15 points) The rate at which water is flowing into a tank is r(t) = 20e0.02t gallons per minutes,
with t being time in minutes.

(a) On the graph above, draw a right Riemann sum on [0, 5] with 5 rectangles. Is this an over-
or an underestimate? Briefly explain.

(b) Write a Riemann sum with n rectangles, approximating the total amount of water entering
the tank between t = 0 and t = 5. Write an exact expression for this amount.

(c) If the tank contains 3000 gallons initially, find a formula for Q(t), the amount of water in
the tank at time t.
