The Galapagos Islands are part of the country of Ecuador. They are situated in the Pacific Ocean
about 1,000 kilometers west of northern South America.
• What does it look like?
Its geographical location at the confluence of three ocean currents makes it one of the richest
and the most beautiful marine ecosystems in the world.
• What can you do there?
I can to do snorkeling, diving, sea kayaking, surfing, hiking, bird-watching and spend time in the
beaches.
• When’s a good time go there?
The experts generally agree that the best time to visit the Galapagos Islands is from December to
May.

Wonderful Islands
The Galapagos Islands are part of the country of
Ecuador. They are situated in the Pacific Ocean
about 1,000 kilometers west of northern South
America. All in all, the archipelago consists of 19
islands and dozens of islets and rocks that dot a
vast area of 45,000 square kilometers of ocean.
Its geographical location at the confluence of
three ocean currents makes it one of the richest
and the most beautiful marine ecosystems in the
world. The seismic and volcanic activity, together with the extreme isolation of the islands, led to the
development of unusual plant and animal life – such as marine iguanas, flightless cormorants, giant
tortoises, huge cacti, endemic trees and the many different subspecies of mockingbirds and finches. The
Galapagos Islands are a year-round destination suitable for travel and cruises any month of the year. Each
month has its own rewards, but the experts generally agree that the best time to visit the Galapagos Islands
is from December to May, because these months coincide with the warm season and ocean conditions are
clear and warm excellent for snorkeling, diving, sea kayaking, surfing, hiking, bird-watching and spend time
in the beaches.
