There are many ways on material adaption to adapt the passage so that it will be

suitable to be used as a material for students. Therefore, I have chosen two ways which are
deletion and simplification to rewrite the passage so it can be used for low proficiency
students.

Neil Armstrong
Born on August 5th, 1930 in Ohio, Armstrong gain his interest in flying at a young age
when he had his first plane ride at the age of 6. Since then, he developed his interest in
aviation.
Armstrong then pursued his studies in aeronautical engineering at Purdue University
in 1947 however in 1949, he was called by The United States Navy for an active duty. He
then served as a Navy pilot and was sent to Korea near the beginning of the Korean War.
Later in 1952. Armstrong returned to Purdue and earned bachelor’s degree in the same
course. Armstrong then become an astronaut in 1962 and was the first person to set foot on
the moon. He landed in Apollo 11 lunar module Eagle on the moon together with Buzz
Aldrin.
After he resigned from astronaut programme, he come a professor of aerospace
engineering at the University pf Cincinnati. Armstrong then died on August 25 th 2012.
