The letter of paul to the ephesians The mission of Paul he view of the human race shows that this

mission is still only beginning and that we must commit ourselves wholeheartedly to its service.
It is the Spirit who impels us to proclaim the great works of God. The letter declares that the
Christian mystery Gospel of salvation, first revealed to the Apostles, is the source of true wisdom
(perhaps an indirect repudiation of Gnostic claims to esoteric knowledge of the supernatural) and
that salvation through Christ is offered to Jews and Gentiles alike. St Paul had to struggle with
magicians and soothsayers in Ephesus while struggling with state offices and pagans. In a short
time, Ephesus became the third important city of Christianity after Jerusalem and Antioch.
Ephesians reminds us of our ultimate hope However, we will be perpetually frustrated if we
depend on anything in the created order to deliver hope apart from our Creator and Savior. In his
letter to the Ephesians, Paul calls believers to know this only true hope: being found in Christ.
