Hydrogen bond is a very special case of very strong dipole-dipole interaction.

They are not chemical bonds in a formal sense. Now, what would happen if hydrogen
bonds were absent in water? Hydrogen bonds provide many of the critical, life-
sustaining properties of water and also stabilize the structures of proteins and DNA, the
building block of cells. Hydrogen bonds are the primary force holding water molecules
together as a liquid. Without hydrogen bonds, water wouldn’t be able to perform its daily
basis accurately. Which will cause detrimental effects to aspects that particularly involve
the use of water. In the absence of hydrogen bonding, the water would swiftly vaporize
into a massive cloud of steam. The oceans would evaporate into water at an absurdly
rapid rate causing the greenhouse effect kicking into high gear. Every living thing on
earth would be cooked by the earth’s tremendous heating.

Water insects are able to walk on water because of the high surface tension on
the water caused by hydrogen bonding. Wherein, water molecules at the surface hold
closely together, forming an invisible film which can now hold weight that would
normally sink.
