Biochemistry (2) (PB303/PB305/PHB332)

Assignment Instructions and Guidelines

Kindly note that the due date for the assignment submission will be on
Tuesday 13th of December, 2022.

Post due date submission is allowed until Friday 16th of December,


2022 with one-mark deduction per each late day.

The Assignment will be divided into two parts:


• Individual Assignment submission (10 Marks)
• Assignment Discussion (5 Marks)

Assignment Discussion:

 Each student will discuss his/her topic individually at the lab session (The Assignment
MUST be printed)
Assignment discussion will be in your lab on week 10 (starting from
17/12/2022).
According to the “Assignment topics” file EACH STUDENT is assigned to a certain
topic (either a metabolic pathway or a metabolic disorder) and requested to do the
following:
• Submit a brief assignment individually on the assigned topic covering these main
points:

In case of metabolic pathway:


Main points:
1) The site (Organs and subcellular localization)
2) Reactions including High quality diagrams showing the reaction with structures.
3) Pathway regulation (Key enzymes and allosteric effectors shown clearly on the
pathway with different colors and/or fonts) and hormonal regulation.

In case of metabolic disorder:


Main points:
1) Cause of disorder
2) Biochemical changes
3) Symptoms
4) Diagnosis
5) Treatment

1- Assignment criteria:
a. Cover page (MSA University, faculty of Pharmacy, Biochemistry department, topic
title, Course code, Student Name, ID and supervisor’s name)
b. Word count: 900 – 1500
c. Formatting:
i. Font: Times new roman, size 12, Headings: Times new roman 14 & bold.
ii. Header: Course code and topic name
iii. Page numbering: bottom centered
iv. Justify
