a) Read the parable again and complete the following sentences:
The jar represents a persons life
First, the professor put 2 inch rocks into the jar and it was full
Then, he put some pebbles and it was full again.
Third, he poured some sand and it was completely filled
The rocks represent the most important things, your family, partner, children
The pebbles are the other important stuff, your job, car, house, friends
The sand is everything else, the small and unimportant stuff.
Your life will still be full when you have your family and friends.

b) Find in the text synonyms to the following words.

Pronumele reflexive (Reflexive Pronouns) însoțesc un verb și se referă la subiect. Se folosesc atunci când
subiectul și complementul direct se referă la aceeași persoană.
Forme:
Singular: myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself
Plural: ourselves, yourselves, themselves

I want to do it myself - Am vrut să o fac singur.


They built the house themselves. - Ei au construit casa singuri.

Pronumele de întărire (Emphatic Pronouns) însoțesc substantive sau pronume personale pentru a le
sublinia, a le scoate în evidență. Ca formă, sunt identice cu pronumele reflexive.
Forme:
Singular: myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself
Plural: ourselves, yourselves, themselves

I myself don’t know the answer - Eu însumi nu știu răspunsul.


Mary herself did all this - Maria însăși a făcut toate astea.

Rewrite the sentences using a different personal and reflexive pronoun.
Example:
I hurt myself when I fell. - You hurt yourself when you fell.

a) He enjoyed himself at the party. - I enjoyed myself at the party.


b) She helped herself to another piece of cake - I helped myself to another piece of cake.
c) We have to take care of ourselves. - You have to take care of yourself.
d) Do you buy your clothes yourself? - Does she buy her clothes herself?
e) He himself learnt how to swim. - You yourself learned how to swim.
f) She cut herself with a knife. - It cut itself with a knife

Complete the sentences using the correct form of the pronoun.
