Introduction- Many schools claim that school uniforms keep students focused on their education
rather than their clothing. School uniforms level the playing field for students, which reduces peer
pressure and bullying. Uniforms boost school pride, unity, and community spirit. Uniforms in schools
may improve attendance and discipline.

A. Thesis: School uniforms should not be required in schools because they stifle students' creativity,
deprive students of their rights, and cause students to lose interest in school.

II. Counterclaim: Wearing the same uniform every day relieves the pressure of defining one's identity
through clothing. As a result, children from all socioeconomic backgrounds can meet on a level playing
field. This encourages student equality and fosters greater cohesion and commonality.

A. Counter point A: When children are allowed to wear their clothes to school, it allows them to
express their individuality. The clothing chosen celebrates diversity and individuality. Children can also
practice making responsible and appropriate clothing choices.

B. Direct quotation to refute a counterpoint A: Many students may be lacking in clothing, which may
lead to bullying. Uniforms boost school pride, unity, and community spirit. Uniforms in schools may
improve attendance and discipline. Because uniform policies are easier to enforce than a standard
dress code, they save valuable class time. Uniforms at school prohibit the display of gang colors and
insignia.

C. Counterpoint B: Promote Independent Thinking Children and teenagers who are exposed to a variety
of clothing styles at school are also exposed to a variety of visible social groups, economic classes,
and ethnic or religious traditions. While these differences can cause conflict and even social
segregation, they can also teach children to value different points of view and engage in critical
thinking.

D. Direct quotation to refute counterpoint B: Children are hypersensitive to social hierarchies and
in-group and out-group dynamics, so clothes are a distraction in school. Students are in school to
learn, and we try to keep them from being distracted.

III.that Claim: Allowing students to wear their clothes makes life easier for low-income families who
may be unable to afford uniforms, as well as for schools that may be required to provide financial
assistance to such families. While many families may find uniforms to be less expensive than
brand-name clothing, the cost of a standard-issue uniform may be out of reach for some families.
Financial assistance is available under Department of Education guidelines for families who cannot
afford uniforms. This means that school districts will have to divert funds from already-stressed
budgets to meet possible academic or technological needs. Such cuts are avoided by wearing
non-uniform clothing.

Point A: In addition to saving money for the school, many families may find uniforms to be less
expensive than brand-name clothing; however, the cost of a standard-issue uniform may be out of
reach for some families.

B. Direct quotation to support point A: According to https://www.becomeopedia.com, standard school

uniforms can cost between $25 and $200 per outfit, while uniforms that combine up to four outfits can
cost between $100 and $600. There are a few suppliers for uniforms, and the lack of competition (and
captive market) keeps prices high. The price depends on the seller, the quality, and the number of
outfits purchased. Some families may not be able to afford items such as blazers and dress shoes
included in a school uniform. Education and school supplies can already be expensive if they are not
provided for free.

C. Point B: Students who dress for school each day learn to adapt to changing social standards and
contexts, which will serve them well as adults. They will need to know how to make appropriate choices
when preparing for their first college visits, job interviews, internships, or promotions, and uniforms
will not help them with this. After all, uniforms provide a one-size-fits-all, conformist solution, whereas
workplaces and social situations necessitate a range of standards. Furthermore, teens develop
independence by dealing with the consequences of trial and error.

D. Direct quotation to support point B: Socialization prepares people to join a social group by teaching
them the norms and expectations of that group." The primary goals of socialization are to teach
impulse control and develop a conscience, prepare people to perform certain social roles, and cultivate
shared sources of meaning and value. Consequences can put a stop to bad behavior at the moment. If
we have a class rule that says we will be safe and two students are shoving in line, we separate them.
This establishes a sense of security and order. Consequences can help students regain control.

IV. Conclusion - Uniforms at school limit students' freedom of expression. Uniforms in schools
encourage conformity over individuality. Uniforms in schools do not prevent bullying and may even
increase violent attacks. School uniforms have no effect on attendance, academic performance, or
exam results. Uniforms limit students' ability to express themselves, promote conformity over
individuality, and have no effect on attendance, academic preparedness, or test results. School
uniforms prevent students from expressing themselves through their clothing. They restrict freedom of
expression (the first amendment).

A. State the claim in a new way: By wearing the same uniform every day, one does not have to define
one's identity through clothing. Consequently, children from all socioeconomic backgrounds will have
the opportunity to compete on an equal footing. By doing so, students are also more cohesive and
common, which promotes equality.

B. Remind the audience why this issue matters: There is freedom in knowing that you are being true to
yourself. When you allow yourself to be creative with your clothing, you may find yourself inspired in
other areas of your life as well.
