ABSTRACT
One of the issues of great importance and under discussion in the printing industry is the recent demand for environmentally sustainable
processes and products. Nowadays this theme can no longer be ignored. It is not just the preservation of the environment that is at stake. The
future profitability of companies in the sector is directly linked to the way sustainable production issues are addressed today. The question is:
what must we do to make printing an ecologically sustainable process?
The answer lies in changing habits: reducing waste and buying organic products, for example, both reduce environmental impact and increase
the value of the product. In this aspect, the most important thing is to train employees properly. In addition, caring for raw materials also
makes the difference: the use of recyclable coatings and laminates, as well as adhesives low in VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds), similarly
reduce environmental impact and increase product value.
ADVANTAGE OF BEING "GREEN"
Most companies welcome ecological practices only and exclusively because of their concern for the planet. However, ecological practices also
mean increased profits and pioneer companies will have a considerable advantage over those left behind because of not having realized it
before.
The investment in cutting-edge technology and in professionals with adequate training becomes fundamental, so that the companies of this
sector can compete and follow the great international movements of printing companies, or local competitors, presenting pieces of work with
high quality at reduced prices and shorter deadlines.
The research study between the printing activity and the pollutant exposure of the workers was investigated on six consecutive working days,
during 8 h work shifts per day. Exposure concentrations of the total volatile organic compound and fine particulate matter were measured in the
four provincial printing industries in Pakistan. The study adopted a qualitative research approach using open-ended questions to guide semi-
structured interviews. The use of compensation-sustainable practices and operational tools to improve eco-friendly sustainable productivity is
essential for the printing industry to grow. Competitiveness within the industry requires quality and cost-effective production nationally. Internal
factors influencing productivity include human resources, materials, machines, location, layout, finance, management, technology, and process
management, while external factors include supplier and consumer relationships. The results indicate that numerous factors contribute to the
decline of productivity such as a lack of skills, layout, material management, technology, late order placement by customers, late material
supply, and poor quality material by suppliers together with the use of older machines. This study seeks to foster and enhance more sustainable
behavior in households, workplaces, schools, and higher educational institutions; previous research has placed increasing attention on the
identification of factors of pro-environmental behavior. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the elements influencing the pro-environmental
behavior of employees in the workplace. A survey was performed from January to February 2020 on 150 public employees of an organization in
Terengganu. Out of 150 employees, only 84 participated and had their responses collected by using convenience sampling. Smart PLS-SEM was
used in analyzing the relationships between the variables. The result of this study found that green lifestyles have a significant positive effect on
pro-environmental behavior. However, the impacts of environmental commitment, environmental consciousness, green self-efficacy, and green
human resource management were insignificant. This study provides data that were developed using a cross-sectional design; the assessment of
causality among the constructs was a risky process. Furthermore, the study collected data from a single source, namely the employees, which
would enhance the relationships through common method bias. The findings of this study also offered several managerial implications for green
organizations. This study suggests that firms should adopt a green culture and CSR practices since it promotes socially responsible behavior (a
better citizen) among their employee, which is essential for a sustainable society.
