By being faithful to God's word, obeying His
commandments, by loving others as He loves us. When
we obey His commands we prove our love for Him, for if
we love Him we will obey His commands because He
gave them for our good even if they are hard for us at
times. By obeying His commandments we show who He
truly is as our King who rules over all things on earth and
in heaven above!
I am willing to give up everything that is not pleasing
to God, including my desires and plans.
It is a difficult thing when you realize that your plans
aren't going anywhere but down. You have to forget about
them, surrender them and let them go because they won't
change anything or bring you any closer to where you
need to be in life (God).
The key to being a genuine follower is that we
practice the teachings and actions of Jesus. Our actions
should be consistent with what He taught us, not just on
Sunday but every day of our lives. We need to have a
relationship with Him, which means we also need to have
a relationship with His people, especially those who are
closest to us and who represent Him in our lives. We have
been given gifts from God, but these gifts will only
flourish if we allow them to grow and mature.
To become a genuine follower of Jesus Christ, you
have to commit yourself to live the way He lived. This
includes the Scriptures and prayer, good works and
service, love for others and your local church family. You
will also need to live out your faith in real life by doing
what God asks of you.
