INTRODUCTION:

We all want to have an eternal life, and when asked what one must do to possess it? We often reply
with nonchalant expressions and clueless hints as to what. However, this can be answered thru Jesus
who replied that by quoting the Commandments since Commandments represents the greatest gift of
God’s love. The Commandments are terms of the Covenant, “Ten Words” revealing the pattern of life
which is righteous in God’s sight and the way of life which leads to happiness.

Good Afternoon Everyone, we’re the third group; My name’s Patricia and my name’s Penelopy. Our
assigned topic to report is the Third Commandment.

TITLE:
“Remember to keep holy the Sabbath Day”

“Remember to keep holy the Lord’s Day”

- Ex 20:8; Dt 5:12

( The 3rd commandment enjoins us to keep the holy the day set aside for the worship of God and for
recreation)

2nd slide:

How does God want us to honor his word?

(How does God wants us to honor his word, according to the bible?)

3rd Slide:

Leviticus 23:3

(The first source relates the sabbath rest to God's creative action that is entailed on Genesis. 6 days
creation and the seventh day being the rest day or what we seemingly do as to refrain from our usual
services, to relax and to go to church to attend the mass. The work of creation reached its climax
when we, humans, we're made. However that creation story does not end there: the ultimate goal it
was made for is the sabbath not the creation in itself, it emphasizes more on us building fellowship or
bond with God the Creator. The seventh day was not due to God being tired from previous creations,
but it was all planned to come to its essential end.

"Just as heaven and earth we're created in 6 days, rest was created in Sabbath" . The rest that
pertains here is not from withdrawal of labor nor freedom from any activity but the real purpose of
the creation of rest is tranquikity, serenity peace and repose.

Second reason aside from rest, is that the Sabbath is a commemoration of the day of liberation.
The holiness of sabbath is to be recognized by setting it aside for worship and rest. In these aspects,
we open ourselves to God and to one another. Sabbath is made for man, not man for sabbath.)

4th slide:

Colossians 2:16-17

(Christians in this text must not fall for dubious claims. These statements seem alluring, but they are
only tricks; although they seem true, they are not. Arguments in favor of legalism, visions, and other
practices are only persuasive to onlookers. None of these actually contribute to spiritual
development. Because Christ fulfilled all that was necessary for our justification before God. Because
we have the genuine substance, Jesus, we have no incentive to chase these phony, shallow
"shadows." Instead, we should follow Him)

5th – 6th slide

Colossians 3:16 & Psalm 122:1

(Big emphasis as how Sabbath is significant to us in all aspects of our being. God has a right to demand
of man that he dedicate one day of the week to proper and fitying worship of the eternal Godhead.
And through his basking, we are honorably bestowed a time where we can be with him, where we can
rest in God's presence. Our rest on the Lord's Day concerns more than our usual psycho-physical
recreation but rather, a rest im his presence; singing songs, dwell into a sense of belonging and
oneness with one another and with God. Whoever enters into God's rest, rest from his own works as
God did from his. Therefore let us strive to enter into that rest.)

7th Slide:

Acts 17:11

(Paul's mission moves down the Greek shore, as described in Acts 17. While other Jews in
Thessalonica incite a disturbance, certain Jews and God-fearing Gentiles believe. When Paul explains
how Jesus fulfills the Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah, the Bereans investigate the truth
of his claims. The Bereans' reaction is a kind of circumspect skepticism. They investigate those
prophesies, verifying Paul's message, and discover that he is correct. Paul is unfortunately sent to
Athens by the nascent Berean church after the Jews from Thessalonica follow and cause such issues.)

8th slide:

John 6:45

(The crowd's underlying driving force in following Jesus is revealed in John 6:41–51: selfishness. A
lengthy conversation in which Christ explains the significance of His miracles includes this line. In the
previous sentence, Jesus claimed that He is the "Bread of Life" that people are supposed to desire. In
response, the populace grumbles amongst themselves. Jesus will then go on to elaborate on what He
means when He calls Himself the "Bread of Life," which, as it turns out, will only enrage the multitude
even more as they go from asking to grumbling to outright disputing)

9th slide:

John 20:21
(This succinctly expresses the notion that not every aspect is covered in the Bible. Not all possible
actions, words, or thoughts associated with each event it describes are recorded in these accounts.
The closing lines of this gospel repeat this same idea. John's gospel, like the rest of the Bible, contains
specific details for specific purposes. In John's case, the aim is for readers to fully comprehend Jesus'
deity and, as a result, accept salvation)

10th slide:

Luke 11:28

(The gospel demonstrates that deeds always trump words. There are several instances where we
praise God's words but do not heed them. We merely acknowledge them, offer them praise, and go
on—or, in the worst situations, disobey. God tells us that action is preferable to speech. Today, for
instance, most people will commend acts of generosity, let's say on social media, as an example of
this type of behavior. People will compliment the good Samaritan with sweet words, but they won't
act in the same way. The gospel demonstrates that we must emulate them as well as praise them)

11th-12th slide:

- When do we sin against this Commandment?

- Refusing to hear and to read the bible
- Let pressures and worries crowd out our lives, keeping us busy and considers doing the duties
commandment by our God as time wasting
- Refusing to believe and refusing to obey it because of influence of others, the media or the
environment you grew up in.

(These acts are considered as acts refusing the presence of God to come into our lives. The Ten
Commandments set out systematically what the love of God and love of neighbor demand of us, we
are refusing to concern ourselves with our own duties towards God. And since we refuse to act on it,
there's a potential where you can stigmatized certain communities to do so. These commandments
are signposts toward authentic freedom)
