Discuss the following questions.

1. Describe the two basic principles of organizing information in archives.

 Before it was transferred to the archive, the originator developed, gathered, or maintained the
collection, such as the record and the document.
 Original Order denotes that the collection was retained or developed with the same group.

2. Describe the challenges of organizing information in the museum.

 Because the items are frequently inadequately known at the moment of accessioning and
registering, there is a good likelihood that conflicts may accumulate over time.
 The lack of language linked with works of art and artifacts encourages those who interpret the
object or collection for the public record to be more subjective.

3. Identify five characteristics of the records systems.

 Capture all records that fall within the scope of the business activities it covers on a regular
basis.
 Protect the records from unauthorized alteration or disposition.
 Routinely function as a primary source of information about action which is documented in
records.
 Provide ready access to all relevant records and relate metadata.
 Organize the records in a way that reflects business processes by the records creator.
