E ‘This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, ether by publication of an identical tex! of by endorsement, atthe latest by October 2008, and confkcing national standards shall be withdrawn at B the latest by Octobar 2006. i ‘This European Standard supersedes ENV 927-2:2000. EN 927 consists ofthe following parts under the general tile: Paints and varnishes - Coating materials and ‘coating systems for exterior wood — Part: Classtcation ard! selection A — Part 2: Porformanco spocifeation — Part 8: Natural weathering test — Part 5: Assessment ofthe liquid water permeabitty 5 — Part 6: Exposure of wood coatings to arficial weathering using flvorescent UV lamps and water This second edition cancels and replaces the frst edition (ENV 927-2:2000), which has been technical revised. The main changes aro: — values for adhesion and maximum sum value in Table 4 were changed; E — former Annex A was deleted and the former Annex B became Annex A. According to the CEN/CENELEC Intemal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the folowing < countries aro bound to Implomont this Euronoan Standard: Austria, Bolgium, Cyprus, Czech Ropubiic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, lily, Latvis, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, ‘Switzeriand and United Kingdom, EN ao".9-0nne fe) EN 927-2:2006 (E) Introduction This is one of 2 number of paris of EN 927. Pari 1 addresses the issue of an unequivocal terminology for the wide vatiety of exterior coatings for wood that are now avaliable. Pat 1 also provides 2 framework for communicating Information on the sultablity of a coating for particular specific end-use categories. Improved ‘communication Is beneficial In the romoval of technical Baris to trado. Howovor there remains tho problem of comparing products tested, or Ikely to be exposed, in diferent climatic regions. EN 927-2 addresses this latter iesue and sote specific parformance critori. EN 927-2:2006 (E) 1 Scope This part of EN 927 speciies performance requirements for coating sysiems on exterior wood. Performance oquiraments ara sgocifed according to the catagorice of ‘ond uso’ and ‘exposure conditions’ (defined in EN 927-1) In terms of tie results of natural weathering performance testing carried out In accarcanes with EN 527-3. A mandatory wator pormeabilty tost in accordanco with EN 627-6 Is also spocified. Additional ‘optional tests are identified which may be used by suppliers to provide voluntary additional information, to 2 Standareized format, on aspects of performance relevant to specie ullsing components such as windaws. 2. Normative references ‘The following referenced documents are incispensable for the apolication of this European Standard. For dated references, only the ecition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including ary amendments) applies EN 927-1:1998, Painis and varnishes — Coating materials and coating systems for exterior wood — Part 1: Clessiication ans selection EN 927-3:2000, Painis and vamishes — Coating materials and coating systems far exterior wood — Part 3 Natural weathering test EN 927-6, Paints and vamishas — Costing matariais and costing systems for exterior wood — Part ‘Assossmont of tho liquid wator pormaabiity YEN 180 4618:2004, Paints and vamishes — Terms and definitions (ISC/DIS 4618:2004) 3. Terms and definitions For the purposes of pIEN ISO 4018:2004 apply. European Standard, the terms and definitions given in EN 927-1:1986 and 4 Performance tests 4.4. Resistance to natural weathe ing 444 General ‘The assessment of a costing material to this specication will require a natural weathering test to be carried ‘out in accordance with EN 927-3, using a flat wood panel of pine (Pinus sitvestis) with a planed surface. A ‘manufacturer of a coating system that meets one or more of the performance profies described in 4.1.2 can claim conformity to the specification, as described in Clause 6. If a coating system daes not mest the performanes eitala the manufacturer cannat claim full conformity but might provide Information gained from ‘one oF moro of tho optional tests. ‘The external curabiity of the coating system under test is assessed by a number of performance criteria Guide values enable an assessment to be made of the suitability of the system for the proposed endse Comparative trials have shown that conformity to the criteria outined below (Table 1) sets a performance standard capable of verifcation, but they do not in themselves consitule a cerliication procedure. Further {guidance on the interpretation of the results Is given in Annex A. EN 927-2:2006 (E) The sovorty of the exposure conditions is determined by reference to the performance of an Internal Comparison Product (ICP), which also serves as a reference standard for the optional evaluation of mould resistance. 41.2 Performance criteria The scores forthe assessment ciea, blistering, cracking, laking and adhesion (rom EN 927-3) and the water ‘absorption value (from EN 927-5), are Interpreted as meeting, or not meeting the required standard, relative to the end-use catagory, according to the criteria givon in Table 1. These rankings ara relat to tro exposure conditons aa deserioed in 4.1.3 Interpretation of criteria (1) The frst four values in each column each represent the maximum allowed for the artmette mean (lo one
