Personal Importance of: Soccer

June 17, 2010, 1:30 PM, minute 64 of the second half, Javier “chicharito” Hernandez received a
pass from Rafael Marquez and was heading to Hugo Lloris’ goal and scored, the amount of joy
that went through me and my family was huge, some minutes went by and we were still
celebrating until my idol Cuautemoc Blanco scored a penalty kick that gave Mexico the victory,
that game made me dream that Mexico had chances of winning the World Cup, that goal made
me feel in heaven at least for a couple of minutes, that goal was all I needed to be happy.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, everyone has a favorite soccer team they support,
everyone is a Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi fan, everyone becomes the most patriotic
person in the world when the World Cup is about to start. I’m not the exception with this type of
stuff, everytime my favorite soccer team (Club America) I put on a jersey to support them from
home. But there was a moment I will not forget.

July 2, 2022, 2:00 PM, my family and I were on our way to the city of Leon, Guanajuato, to
celebrate my birthday since I had failed to convince my mom to take me to watch a soccer game
that was happening that day in Mexico City, we ended up going to Leon to explore the city and
visit some famous landmarks and neighboring cities that have a lot to offer. But before we “got
there” there was something that really threw me off, usually when you go to Leon you go from
the state of San Luis to the state of Guanajuato because it's closer, but when you go to Mexico
City you go from San Luis to Guanajuato, from Guanajuato to Queretaro and then Mexico City. I
fell asleep on our way to San Luis and woke up in Guanajuato, i thought we were getting closer
to Leon until i saw a sign saying “Bienvenido a Queretaro” (Welcome to Queretaro), and
realized something was off, as soon as i realized i questioned my parents about it, my dad told
my mom to “tell me”, i was very confused but then my mom told me “Cris, were not going to
Leon, were going to Mexico City and we’ll try to make it on time to watch the Club America
game in the Aztec stadium”, when my mom told me that tears started to uncontrollably fall down
from my eyes, that day my biggest dream came true and was able to enjoy the experience to be
in such a magical place along with my family and at the same time also accomplish my dad’s
dream.
