The origins of the New Man lie in mystery, known only to

himself and perhaps his closest advisors. Legends say that the
Emperor walked the earth for tens of thousands of years before
his Great Crusade, watching, guiding, waiting. It is said that
he watched the frst human civilisations fourish and crumble,
aided learned men to discover the secrets of the cosmos, and
protected his people from harm.
His was a power like no other, a puissant master of the
psychic arts, the Emperor had no equal. His might could crush
armies, and his will could obliterate nations. Throughout the
long torturous years of mankinds evolution he observed and
considered. He took it upon himself to protect and guide all of
humanity ensuring the survival of future generations. However
it was not until the twilight of humanity that he acted. The Old
Night, the Age of Strife had decimated his people, leaving them
a broken battered people.
Through his work he brought about salvation. Using his own
divine genome the Emperor fashioned twenty superhuman
beings, Primarchs, frst of humanity. These mighty individuals
would lead his people to their place as rulers of the galaxy.
From their seed he fashioned a warrior brotherhood, Space
Marines, each a fnely crafted simulacra of their Primogenitor,
each a perfect fghting machine. With his Legions the Emperor
liberated his people, striding the stars like a god bringing
enlightenment and understanding to the barbaric degenerates
he encountered.
It was at its height that the Emperor was betrayed by his
closest son, Horus. Corrupted by his own pride and hubris,
and empowered by the daemon gods of chaos, Horus dared
challenge his father for control of the galaxy. Where once
there was unifcation and strength now only anarchy and death
remained. Horus tore down everything the Emperor had strived
so hard to build and slaughtered the people the Emperor had
spent a thousand lifetimes protecting.
Despite his love for his most favoured son the Emperor
steeled his heart and resolved to end the destructive confict.
Teleporting aboard the traitor's ship the Emperor determined to
stop Horus any way he could.
Their duel was a spectacle of divine proportions, a battle
between opposing sides of the human soul. The victor would
become the undisputed ruler of the Imperium.
Unable to convince Horus of his error, the Emperor was forced
to turn his god power to his most favoured son's complete
annihilation. Using the last of his strength he obliterated the
traitor's soul, but in doing so was forced to retreat from the
world, his soul heavy with sorrow. He sits atop his Golden
Throne to this day, watching and guiding, ensuring that his
people will never again suffer the tyranny of another.
