1.0 Introduction
Board measurement is the term to indicate that the board foot is the unit of measurement for
most lumber items. A board foot is defined as a piece one inch thick (nominal) by one foot
wide (nominal) by one foot long (actual) or its equivalent. Knowing how to calculate board
measurements is essential in civil engineering. For example, when a quantity surveyor is
taking off for a building’s foundation the board measurement for the formwork has to be
calculated. Hence the main objective of this assignment is to calculate the board measurement
for a flight of stairs of one of the establishments in the University of Guyana vicinity.

3.0 Conclusion
The board measurement of the flight of stair was calculated. This estimate entails the board
measurement calculator of each tread and the four landings on the flight of stairs. The total
board measurement of the stair is 765 BM.
