1.3 PROJECT LOCATION

The HONDA PHILIPPINES, INCORPORATED, PHASE 3 PROJECT is

located along Road-4 and bounded by Road-3 at the North East Side
and Fujitsu at the South portion at the First Philippine Industrial Park at
the Municipality of Tanauan City, Batangas.

1.4 ROADS AND PARKING AREAS

1.4.1 ROADWAY

Proposed road with a total length of 164 meters inside the plan site
consist of 4.00 meters wide single lane, one way road, Portland cement
concrete (PCC) paved.
1.4.2 CONCRETE PAVEMENT AREA

The following Portland cement concrete pavement shall be provided:

1. 400 m2, 150-mm thk PCC pavement at the 3 sides of the 2 nd Hand
Building

2. 58 m2, 150mm thk PCC pavement at the entrance of the

maintenance Building

3. 90 m2, 150mm thk PCC pavement at the frontage of the oil storage
building

4. 15 m2, 150 mm thk PCC pavement at the entrance of he Motorcycle

Building

5. 1,680 m2, 200 mm thk PCC pavement at the frontage of the Junk
Area.

1.4.3 DESIGN CRITERIA

a. Design Speed-30kph

b. Cross Section Elements

aa. Width of Portland Cement Concrete Road Lanes

bb. Normal Cross Slope - 2.00 % (one way)

cc. Lateral Clearance to Obstructions - 1.00 meter (min)

dd. Shoulder Width - 1.00 meter (min),

2% cross slope (min);
sodded

ee. Sidewalk Width - 1.00 meter (min); 2%

ff. Earth Slope - 3 Horizontal; 1 Vertical (max)

front and back slopes on cut
and fill; sodded

gg. Curbs - Concrete barrier curbs

adjacent to upper portion of
roadways

hh. Curb and Gutters - Concrete barrier type curb

gutters adjacent to lower
lower portion of roadways

ii. Traffic Island - As indicated in Plan

1.4.4 DESIGN ELEMENTS

a. Sight Distance
Minimum Stopping Sight Distance -30 meters

b. Horizontal Alignment
Horizontal (90 degree) Curves -9.00 meters radius (max)
-7.00 meters radius (min)

c. Vertical Alignment -0.25% (min)

-1.26% (max)

d. Length of Vertical Curves -None Required in this Project

1.4.6 GENERAL LAYOUT -See Drawing Sheet No.

1.5 PAVEMENT THICKNESS DESIGN

Assumed an Average Daily Traffic of 200 vehicles per day consisting of

20% trucks and 80% passenger cars and light vehicles. The total
number of equivalent 80Kn single axle load for 20 years is:
Light Vehicles -200 x 80% x 365 x 20 x 0.11 = 11,700Kn
Heavy Trucks – 200 x 20% x 365 x 20 x 0.765 = 223,400Kn
Total = 235,100Kn

Based on the Soils Investigation Report, the upper 4.5m to 7.0m soil
layer consist of Sandy Clay (CL) and Sandy-Clayey Silt (CH) underlain
by Tuffaceous Silty Sand until the bedrock interface encountered at
7.00 to 8.00 mbgl. Ground water table is 5.0 mbgl. for borehole #16.
The upper layer has a plasticity of PI ranging from 20 to 26% and
normally consolidated. Sub-grade modulus, K value was assumed at
200 pounds per cubic inch (pci). IAW Ref. 1.2.1 chart 4.6, page 3-5,
using a 150 mm thick untreated granular sub base course will increase
sub-grade K to 230 pci.

Flexural Working stress in concrete pavement after 28-days = 75% x

550 psi = 400 psi (tested by third pint long method).

Rigid pavement design thickness = 135 mm (5.3 inches) IAW Ref.

1.2.1, page 3-6, Design Chart A for Rigid Pavement, Pt = 2.5. Use
150mm thick PCC pavement over a 150mm thick aggregate sub base
course and compacted sub-grade.

1.6 JOINTS AND REINFORCEMENT DESIGN CRITERIA

a. Provide doweled, keyed longitudinal construction joints at road

centerlines and adjoining traffic lanes for roadways with two or more
traffic lanes and at concrete curbs, curb and gutters.
b. Provide transverse contraction joints spaced at 3.00 meters
maximum intervals. These maybe sawed or formed; width shall be 6
mm minimum x 50 mm deep.
c. Provide doweled transverse construction joints for planned
interruptions such as at the end of the day’s run, road intersections
and where emergency interruptions suspend operation for 30
minutes or more.
d. Provide transverse expansion joints where new pavement abuts an
existing PCC pavement.
e. Provide 10 x 10 – 6 x 6 EWWF for all odd – shaped and mismatched
slabs.

1.7 PAVEMENT MARKINGS

Pavement markings consisting of road centerlines, directional arrows,

stop lines, pedestrian crossings and parking slots striping will be
provided IAW REF. 1.2.4 as an option of the property owner for traffic
safety.
