4.

Highschool students should be taught academic knowledge so that they can pass exams,
and skills such as cooking or dressing should not be taught. To what extent do you agree or
disagree?
high school students = high school undergraduates = learners at high schools
academic knowledge = academic subjects = core subjects
vd: maths, literature, physics …
teach sb sth = provide / equip sb with sth
skills = practical skills = life skills = soft skills
cooking skill = culinary skill = cookery skill
(un)important = (un)necessary

It is believed that high school undergraduates should be taught core subjects so that they can pass
exams, and practical skills namely culinary skills or dressing should not be provided. From my
perspective, this proposal is absolutely justifiable.

5. Environment protection is the responsibility of politicians, not individuals as individuals

can do too little. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
environment protection = environment preservation
responsibility = duty = liability = obligation
politicians = law-makers = policy makers = the government
individual = each resident / person
make (in)significant contributions to sth (v): đóng góp to lớn / ko đáng kể vào cái gì
It is believed that Environment preservation is the liability of lawmakers, not each person as
individuals make insignificant contributions to Environment protection. Personally, I concur with
this statement for the following reasons.
1 New parents should be made to attend parenting courses to ensure the growth of their children. To
what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is thought/believed/deemed/considered (by a group of people) that Young married couples

should be forced to take part in parenting courses to guarantee the development of their
offspring.

On the one hand, parents will benefit a great from parenting classes. First, such courses provide
mothers and fathers with knowledge about how to raise children at different developmental
stages.
