Activity 1:
In your own words, what is a position paper?
I always connect it from the word itself position, means your stand or viewpoints. It presents one
side of an arguable opinion about an issue and justified with valid arguments. The main
objective of a position paper is to persuade the audience that your opinion is valid and
defensible.

Activity 2:
This defense analysis examines the article titled “Should Homework be Mandatory?” written by
one of the writers in chiefessay.net site which is not mention. This article is about whether the
homework should be mandatory or not. The writer firmly believe that homework should not be
viewed as a mandatory part of education for several reason. According to the writer, homework
should rather be an option as younger generation overloaded with home task and numerous
assignments have already raised issue many times. Specifically, this analysis identifies the
position of the author/s, their main argument and the evidence supporting these arguments.
The writer makes 4 numbers of claims and support them with factual evidence.
The first main argument is that kids need time to get outside and have some fun, otherwise they
will grow physically weak. To support this argument, the author uses 2 claims. First, children
spend seven hours every single work day at school. That is a huge chunk of life, and with
homework added on top of these hours, a child is left with no time to live his life to the fullest,
socialize, or grow in other areas. Second, according to the writer, sitting at your desk solving
problems does no good to your health. Kids need time to get outside and have some fun, join a
football league, or ride their bikes with friends around the block. Otherwise, children will be very
smart but surprisingly weak physically. For me, I totally agreed with the writer, as a student I
completely experience this and it’s a dreadful experience. The writer mention that some
students are overloaded with home task and numerous assignment which is for me is true.
Especially today, where education takes place in home, where there’s a conflict between
household task and school task. Stress associated with academic activities has been linked to
various negative outcomes such as poor health (Greenberger, 1981; Lesko & Summerfield,
1989), depression (Aldwin &Greenberger, 1987) and poor academic performance (Clark &
Rieker, 1986; Linn & Zeppa, 1984).
In conclusion, the author presented his firm beliefs that homework should not be viewed as a
mandatory part of education. According to the writer, homework should rather be an option as
younger generation overloaded with home task and numerous assignments have already raised
issue many times. I agree that students tend to ask their parents or siblings for help whenever
facing difficulties. However, Busy parents are not always willing to spend extra time explaining
school material to their little one, instead they solve the problems themselves aiming to have
more time for family, not lessons. As a result, the child will have the homework done. But that’s
really not his work. So, the whole idea of dedicating time to self-education is lost here. For this, I
firmly believe that school assignments should be lighten and mitigated. For students to have not
only a good quality of education we all wanted, but also a students’ who are free from
depression/stress who also able to live his/her life to the fullest. Let’s not take this away from
them, for we only live once and the students’ needs to experience fun in their lifetime not
pressure.

Activity 3:
Positive Impact of Social Media on Education
Introduction
There’s no denying that, ever since social networks and social media made way into our lives,
everything is different. Beginning with the way we socialize, interact, study or look for information,
social media makes our lives easier. Social media is very important in all fields whether it is
education or any other field. So, the first question arises, what is social media. Social media is
the set of various applications and websites that makes user share information and knowledge
and anything. Social media is a very interactive platform wherefrom users can take help and share
their ideas, information, and share about their jobs, their career interest, and many more things.
These ideas can be shared through various communities and various networks. Starting from
elementary school up until university graduation, social media has the role to empower parents,
students and teachers to use new ways of sharing information and build a community. Statistics
show that 96% of the students that have internet access are using at least one social network.
What’s even more extraordinary is that, even though some of the students use the social networks
for entertaining and other purposes, there are a lot of them that actually use it to promote a lot of
positive and useful activities. I, as a student do firmly believe that social media helps in the field
of education.

Body
Social Media offers a lot of opportunities and plenty of options for interaction and gaining
information and can increase their learnings. There is various Importance of social media in
teaching and learning. These are:
First, one of the great advantages of social media in education is distance learning opportunities.
Especially today, due to COVID-19 pandemic that has impacted the entire education system in
the Philippines and brought a new phase in education called “distance-learning”. According to
Bonz Magsambol (2020), to make sure that learning remains unhampered, DepEd will be
implementing a distance learning approach a learning delivery mode where interaction takes
place between the teacher and the students who are geographically remain from each other
Through social mediums such as YouTube or Facebook video live the engagements between
students and the teachers can be sustained.
Second is, Social media helps enhances the student’s academic performance like searching for
school-related topic videos in YouTube or Facebook. According to the Social media pilot
programmed in Portland revealed social media’s positive impact on students’ performance by
boosting academic scores by 50%. Sharing of information is very necessary in order to spread
the message or if you want to communicate with the other. Students need to communicate with
their teachers, friends, and colleagues and various others. Information sharing becomes very
easy through the help of the internet and social media. Students can connect with their friends,
teachers, colleagues and any other through various communication means such as mobile
phones, laptops, personal computers, laptops, and various others. But all these devices need an
internet connection then only they can share information easily through social media websites.
Students need to share knowledge, their daily tasks, opinions, study material, school projects,
and other kinds of educational stuff with each other. With the help of social media, students can
easily share this valuable information with each other and can gain information and Lastly is,
Social Credibility. Many schools, colleges & universities have begun the facility of interconnecting
with a large no. of students through the means of social media networks, for example, Facebook,
Twitter, and YouTube. These channels can be utilized to impart & to communicate school news,
educational info, make declarations, and provide students with more valuable data. This creates
involvement between the school and students, which help handle several student-related issues
through the group associations.

Conclusion:
Social media indeed is a big part of our day-to-day life and there’s no point of keeping it away
from the education process. I as a student, do acknowledge that social media is one of the
platforms I use to get information and learn various topics that are related to my studies. School,
college and university staff should be encouraged to make use of technology for student and
parent communication. The use of social media in the education sector has made learning a fun
experience. Students are learning and adapting to the world using a relatively new form of
communication which is faster, time-saving & more effective. There is great potential that social
media will revolutionize education in the world.
