CONCELEBRATION MASS IN HONOR OF OUR

PATRON, STA. CATALINA DE ALEXANDRIA

by Joan Gabrielle A. Rabanes | BSN 3A

VIVA! STA. CATALINA, VIVA!

Saint Catherine of Alexandria, the
patron saint of Glan, is
commemorated annually on
November 25 with a mass. In this
time of year, my family has a
tradition of decorating the altar
and the chariot that carries Sta.
Catalina around the town during
the novena procession.

This event commemorates the

history of salvation and the
devotion of our church to honor
the Lord's past and ongoing
activities in the world.

It's me here, with my

grandma and grandpa. Both
have had a significant
impact on my religious
beliefs and practices.

Sta. Catalina became our

patron saint because,
according to our town's
mythology, many years
ago, she halted a
catastrophic flood, so big
that it could drown our
town, by riding a white
horse straight into the
approaching waters.
Catherine was her name.
