Introduction
Guidelines for upgrade and downgrade
Mandatory upgrade/downgrade path for e410, e510, e430, e600 and e700 should follow below steps:

Warning

To upgrade/downgrade from 3.11.x (3.11.4-r9/3.11.3.1-r4/3.11.3-r7 etc.), 4.x (4.0/4.1/4.2 and

later subsequent images) to 6.4 and above and vice-versa, mandatory use 4.2.2-r5. Ignoring
this suggestion can lead to failure in loading the image and resulting in partitioning (backup
partition) the flash getting corrupted. To recover the corrupted partition, user may have to
contact Cambium Support team.

Perform the below steps to upgrade the image from 3.11.4-r9 to 6.4-r5 and above:

1. Upgrade the AP from 3.11.4-r9 to 3.11.4.1-r3.

2. Upgrade the AP from 3.11.4.1-r3 to 4.2.2-r5.

3. Upgrade the AP from 4.2.2-r5 to 6.4-r5.

Perform the below steps to downgrade the image from 6.4-r5 and above to 3.11.4-r9:

1. Downgrade the AP from 6.4-r5 and above to 4.2.2-r5.

2. Downgrade the AP from 4.2.2-r5 to 3.11.4.1-r3.

3. Downgrade the AP from 3.11.4.1-r3 to 3.11.4.-r9.

Supported Platforms 6
System Release 6.5 Information
Introduction
System Release 6.5 supports three new platforms XV2-21X, XV2-23T, and XV2-22H. This release also
supports new features and additional bug fixes.

XV2-21X
The XV2-21X is a Dual-Radio Indoor 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 Access Point (AP) designed to deliver next-generation
networks with edge services at a value-based price. Wi-Fi 6 technology delivers higher network speeds
and enables more connected devices at higher packet quality. Wi-Fi 6 brings a deterministic model to the
radio frequency (RF) layer where the AP controls the client connections, including when to sleep, when
to wake, and how to transmit and receive packets. The XV2-21X is fully backward compatible with
existing Wi-Fi technology and enables a massive growth of low-power, low-bitrate IoT devices to add
infrastructure intelligence into any market. The XV2-21X hardware supports a 1 GbE RJ45 interface.

XV2-21X comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty providing return and repair service on the AP from the
date of purchase until the end of the life of the product.

XV2-23T
The XV2-23T is a Dual-Radio Outdoor 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 Access Point (AP) designed to deliver next-generation
networks with edge services at a value-based price.
The XV2-23T is fully backward compatible with
existing Wi-Fi technology and enables a massive growth of low power, low bitrate IoT devices to add
infrastructure intelligence into any market.

The XV2-23T hardware supports the following:

System Release 6.5 Information 7

l 1 GbE RJ45 interface

l Outdoor-rated IP67 enclosure

XV2-23T comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty providing return and repair service on the AP from the
date of purchase until the end of the life of the product.

XV2-22H
The XV2-22H is a Dual-Radio Indoor 2x2 wall plate Wi-Fi 6 Access Point (AP) designed to deliver next-
generation networks with edge services at a value-based price. Wi-Fi 6 technology delivers higher
network speeds and enables more connected devices at higher packet quality. Wi-Fi 6 brings a
deterministic model to the radio frequency (RF) layer where the AP controls the client connections,
including when to sleep, when to wake, and how to transmit and receive packets. The XV2-22H is fully
backward compatible with existing Wi-Fi technology and enables a massive growth of low power, low
bitrate IoT devices to add infrastructure intelligence into any market.

The XV2-22H hardware supports the following:

l 3 x GbE Ethernet, one with PoE out

l RJ45 electrical pass-through ports

l BLE/Zigbee

XV2-22H comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty providing return and repair service on the AP from the
date of purchase until the end of the life of the product.

System Release 6.5 Information 8

New features in System Release 6.5
l Maximum wireless client

l EAP-FAST Support

l Proxy Through Controller

Maximum wireless client

At present, the WLAN profile provides an option to configure the maximum wireless clients association
limit. This configuration limits the maximum number of clients per SSID per Radio. For example, if a user
configures the maximum wireless client as 10, on a device capable of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios, the total
number of clients that can be associated is 10 across each Radio. This has been enhanced in System
Release 6.5 to set the maximum clients limit per SSID irrespective of the number of Radios to which SSID
has been mapped.

EAP-FAST Support
EAP-FAST authentication occurs in two phases. In the first phase, EAP-FAST employs the TLS handshake
to provide an authenticated key exchange and to establish a protected tunnel. Once the tunnel is
established the second phase begins with the peer and server engaging in further conversations to
establish the required authentication and authorization policies.

Proxy Through Controller

cnMaestro On-Premises can act as a proxy server for a AAA request coming from Enterprise Wi-Fi 6
Access Points. In this scenario, cnMaestro acts as Network Access Server (NAS) for the AAA server.

System Release 6.5 Information 9

The AP sends AAA packets to cnMaestro On-Premises, and cnMaestro forwards them to the AAA server.
When the Proxy Through Controller feature is enabled, CoA is supported other than AAA requests.
