Production Theory, Cost Theory

Tata Steel is continuously working on the production of transition plans with “low carbon

technologies” for generating steel in the Netherlands and the UK. During the year 2021, the

company has accomplished the separation method between the Netherlands and UK as two of

them are the independent companies through “Tata Steel Europe”. Both the countries are

trying to develop the detailed “transition plan in line with the goal of the company to produce

CO2- neutral steel in Europe by the year 2050” (The Economic Times, 2022). However, in

"Tata Steel Netherlands'', the company has plans to phase out a blast coal and furnaces for the

coming 10 years by shifting it with the association of "Direct Reduced Iron (DRI)

technology” which is in the form of “electric and hydrogen forge”. Therefore, the company

has successfully continued with the "Coal Bed Methane" gas to the blast furnaces by shifting

the metallurgical coal into the cleaner fuel.

It can be observed that the consolidated “profit after tax” of tata steel during the end of 2021

was around $82 billion and was significantly reducing since from the last year. According to

2
“Tata steel, UK”, they manufacture steel from the blast forge and elementary oxygen forge

path, and the yearly volume is of 15 million tonne an um. While discussing Indian operation

the company stated that based on the estimation of various moment within the Indian market,

the company will accomplish maturity plans and implementation timing. They believed that

they are focussed on the expansion project in Kalinga Nagar to create 8 MTPA sites. The

Kalinga Nagar project is directed on “higher value- added products” which includes “plates,

advanced high-quality steel, coated products and products” for newer application (Bureau,

2022). As an intermediary plan, volume addition applying the fragment “Electric Arc Forge”

(EAF) path will be established for converting the composed and refined scrap to steel, in

India. They also added that they also had plans to shift through “metallurgical coal” to clear

propellant like “hydrogen, natural gas-which is based on the steel- making” in India. In the

year between 2021 to 2022, 5 ton per day pilot plant was successfully assigned at Jamshedpur

to occupy the amount of CO2 from blast forge gas.

Reflection

In this context, I have described about the related situation which were occurred in the Tata

Steel while planning about the transition for the low technology of carbon in the UK and

Netherland. While working on this article, I have explored great things that have provided me

with detailed knowledge and had experienced about the information gathered through the

Tata Steel. I have properly evaluated my work-related activities within the proper situation

and had tried to give the work with honesty and objectively. By focusing on the detailed

analysis of the things so that it can work well created a proper sense of the situation while

discussing about the low carbon technology in the Tata Steel. The final conclusion has made

my self-identity with greater strength and challenge the decisions of further assignments.

Therefore, a proper planning has been differently done to receive an extreme help to think

about the situation so that I can further perform indifferently.
