Introduction

A newspaper is a printed periodical released frequently, typically once daily or once

weekly. It provides news and information about current events, journalistic analysis, and
opinions. News and feature stories on local, state, national, and international news are
frequently published in general-interest newspapers. Politics, business, money, crime, the
environment, and natural disasters are just a few topics covered in the news, along with sports,
entertainment, society, cuisine and cooking, apparel and home fashion, and the arts.

There is no doubt that the newspaper plays a crucial role in disseminating information
to the public. This is one of the best ways for individuals to communicate with one another and
the rest of the globe. They are also an excellent source of knowledge. The primary purpose of
the print media, especially the daily newspapers, is to inform, sway, and mold public opinion
on all significant issues of public concern. The daily newspaper is prominent among print
media outlets that carry mass communication.

Sin Chew Daily is a famous Chinese-language newspaper in Malaysia. Aw Boon Par

and Aw Boon Haw, the creators of the Tiger Balm in the Straits Settlements, founded Sin Chew
Daily on January 15, 1929, as a part of the Star Amalgamated Newspaper they had created.
Since its founding, Sin Chew Daily has made significant progress to become one of Malaysia's
most prominent newspapers. It is proud of its development, which was once a best-selling
newspaper in Malaysia.

Until the early 1950s, Sin Chew Daily was solely active in Singapore. After that opened
an office in Kuala Lumpur and transported daily newspapers to the Malay Peninsula for
distribution from Singapore. When Malaysia and Singapore parted ways in 1965, Kuala
Lumpur's Sin Chew Daily left Singapore's headquarters to launch a separate company. The
newspaper operation was moved from Kuala Lumpur to Petaling Jaya on July 7, 1966, when
the publishing business of Sin Chew Daily, Galaxy Newspaper Pte Ltd, purchased the current
location of Petaling Jaya as the headquarters of Malaysia. The Malaysian newspaper was
produced and published in the new Petaling Jaya plant, whereas Sin Chew Daily was printed
in the original factory of the Singapore Head Office. Singapore Head Office's editorial
department still organized newspapers at the beginning of Petaling Jaya's absence of a factory;
they were then telexed to Petaling Jaya, where they were simultaneously printed in two
locations. Petaling Jaya had no new factories then and was a minor player in the Sin Chew
Daily system. After the two countries split, Malaysia and Singapore experienced different
national circumstances, eventually leading Petaling Jaya's Newspapers to establish
independent editing, plate-making, and printing operations. Therefore, Singapore Sin Chew
Daily and Malaysia Sin Chew Daily are the two editions of Sin Chew Daily.

Beginning when Malaysia was still a British colony and continuing through to the anti-
Japanese conflict and the independence movement, Sin Chew has acted as both a participant
and a spectator in history. Twice, the Sin Chew Daily ceased publication. The first time was
between 1942 and 1945 when the Japanese army attacked the south and successfully overran
Malaysia and Singapore, forcing them to cease publication. The publication permission was
revoked for the second time in 1987 when the Malaysian government used the publication and
printing act as justification. Sin Chew Daily was able to resume publication up until April 8,
1988, thanks to the efforts of the present president Hiew King Tiong and top authorities.

Sin Chew Daily faces and overcomes many obstacles throughout the 80 years it takes to get to
its current level of popularity. Nowadays, the most recent Sin Chew Web and mobile phone
applications can facilitate readers' quick searches for news while also speeding up readers'
usage of computers or mobile devices to access news, clearly classifying news, and
categorising news. The development of new technologies has further increased Sin Chew's
influence as a media that transcends boundaries, and the largest print media overseas now
includes Sin Chew Daily. In 2011, Sin Chew Daily newspapers reached their 80th year of
publication.
