ARTIAL DERIVATIVES (02) om | Functions of two or more independent variables appear in many practical problems more _ often than functions of one independent variable. The concept of derivative of a single variable function f(x) is extended to the function of two or more variables. A | Suppose f(x,y) is a function of two independent variables x8y, we treat y as constant and find the || derivative of f(x.y) want x, then the derivative is called PARTIAL DERIVATIVE. Partial differential equations are used to mathematically formulate, and thus aid the solution of, physical and other problems involving functions of several variables, such as the propagation of heat or | sound, fluid flow, elasticity, electrostatics, electrodynamics, etc. Partial Derivatives : Letf bea function of two variables whose domain includes the point (& b).
