Being a Women in the Roman Empire

Hi, my name is Claudia and I am a female who is a part of the Roman Empire. I am 45

years old and have a husband, Felix, along with 3 children (2 boys and 1 girl). I have been a

nurse for over 15 years and was extremely fortunate to have access to an education so that I

could become a nurse. I grew up in Rome, so I wasn’t in any of the territories that the Roman

army took over. I grew up in an above middle class family, so that helped a lot with me being

able to have an education being a woman in Ancient Rome. Since I was able to get a good job

being a nurse, my family and I are able to live a comfortable, healthy life with the money that my

husband and I bring in so I would consider us also an above middle class family when it come to

income. Although most of my time working is being taken up as a nurse, I still take care of the

house work when I have the time. I find my job to be quite rewarding, but also extremely

dangerous since I am a nurse for the Roman army which puts my life at risk. This often takes me

away from my family for months at a time. Some of my other responsibilities would consist of

taking care of the children, making food, doing dishes, and cleaning up around the house. I

would say that I definitely get treated better than other women and get looked at better for being

a women by the society and a big part of that is due to the fact that I am a nurse for the army so I

get more respect than others would. I personally don’t like the people of Etruscan because we are

at war with them. But, I mainly don’t like their rulers not so much the other everyday people in

their society. Overall, I am super happy with my life. I have had the ability to get a good

education which most people let alone women are able to get, I have a big happy family, and my

finacle side of life has allowed me to not have to worry about not having food on the table or

clothes on my back.
