INTRODUCTION
The vehicle is equipped with an infotelematic system designed according to the specific characteristics of the passenger
compartment, with a customised design that matches the style of the dashboard.
The system is installed in an ergonomic position for the driver and passenger and controls can be quickly identified from the
graphics on the front making the device easy to use.

To increase protection against theft, the system has a protection system which only allows it to be used on the vehicle in which
it was originally fitted.
The instructions for use are given below and we recommend you read them carefully and always keep them to hand (for
example, in the glove compartment).

Road safety
Uconnect™ 5" Nav LIVE
Learn how to use the various system
functions before setting off.
Read the instructions for the system
carefully before setting off.

Reception conditions
Reception conditions change
constantly while driving. Reception may
be interfered with by the presence of
mountains, buildings or bridges,
especially when you are far away from
the broadcaster.
IMPORTANT The volume may be
increased when receiving traffic
bulletins.
Care and maintenance
Observe the following precautions to
ensure the system is fully operational:

the display is sensitive to scratching,
liquids and detergents. The display
should not come into contact with
pointed or rigid objects which could
damage its surface. Do not press
on the display when cleaning it.
never use alcohol, petrols and
derivatives to clean the display lens.
prevent any liquid from entering the
system: this could damage it beyond
repair.
Important notes
In the event of a failure, the system
should only be checked and repaired at
a Fiat Dealership.
If the temperature is particularly low, the
display may take a while to reach
optimum brightness.
If the vehicle is stopped for a while and
the external temperature is very high,
the system may go into “thermal
protection” mode, suspending
operation until the temperature in the
passenger compartment returns to
acceptable levels.
MULTIMEDIA DEVICES:
SUPPORTED AUDIO
FILES AND FORMATS
For USB and iPod sources the system
can play files with the following
extensions and formats:
.MP3 (32 – 320 kbps);
.WAV (8/16 bit, 8-48 KHz);
.WMA (5 – 320Kbps) mono and
stereo provided that they are
non-lossless;
.AAC (8 – 96 kHz) mono and stereo;
.M4A (8 – 96 kHz) mono and stereo;
.M4B (8 – 96 kHz) mono and stereo;
.MP4 (8 – 96 kHz) mono and stereo.
For all sources (AUX and iPod), the
system can also play the following
Playlist formats:
.M3U
.WPL
NOTE It makes no difference whether
the suffixes are written in capital or
small letters.
NOTE It is recommended to load only
unprotected music files, with supported
extensions. If the external audio device
has other formats (e.g. .exe, .cab,
.inf, etc.) problems might arise during
playing of tracks.
NOTES ON TRADEMARKS
iPod, iTunes and iPhone are registered
trademarks of Apple Inc.
All other trademarks are the property of
their respective owners.
Apple is not responsible for the
operation of this device and of its
conformity with the safety rules and
standards.
The DAB/DAB+/DMB Digital Radio
function has been certified according to
the specifications of the "ARD" white
sticker, for Class A - Audio services.
ARD is a trademark of the Associazione
per la Radiofonia Digitale in Italia.
EXTERNAL AUDIO
SOURCES
Other electronic devices (e.g. iPod,
PDA, etc.) can be used on the vehicle.
Some of them may cause
electromagnetic interference however.
Disconnect these devices if the system
performance worsens.
NOTE The system supports only
FAT32-formatted USB devices. The
system does not support devices with a
capacity higher than 64 GB.
ANTITHEFT PROTECTION
The system is equipped with an
anti-theft protection system based on
the exchange of information with the
electronic control unit (Body Computer)
on the vehicle.
This guarantees maximum safety and
prevents the secret code from being
entered after the power supply has
been disconnected.
If the check has a positive outcome, the
system will start to operate, whereas if
the comparison codes are not the same
or if the electronic control unit (Body
Computer) is replaced, the system will
ask the user to enter the secret code
according to the procedure described
in the paragraph below.
Entering the secret code
When the system is switched on, if the
code is requested, the display will
show "Please enter Anti-Theft Code"
followed by the screen showing a
keypad to enter the secret code.

The secret code is made up of four
digits from 0 to 9.
If an incorrect code is entered, the
system displays "Incorrect Code" to
notify the user of the need to enter the
correct code.
After the 3 available attempts to enter
the code, the system displays
"Incorrect Code. Radio locked. Wait for
30 minutes". After the text has
disappeared it is possible to start the
code entering procedure again.
Vehicle radio passport
This document certifies ownership of
the system. The vehicle radio passport
shows the system model, serial number
and secret code.
WARNING Keep the vehicle radio
passport in a safe place so that you can
give the information to the relevant
authorities if the system is stolen.

passport, contact the Fiat Dealership,
taking an ID document and the car
ownership documents.
IMPORTANT NOTES
Uconnect™ 5" Nav LIVE
Look at the screen only and when it is
necessary and safe. If you need to look
at the screen for a long time, pull over
to a safe place so as not to be
distracted while driving.
Immediately stop using the system in
the event of a fault. Otherwise the
system might be damaged. Contact a
Fiat Dealership as soon as possible
to have the system repaired.
SOFTWARE/MAP
UPDATES
To update the system software or the
maps (if available) contact only the Fiat
Dealership.

1) Only clean the front panel and the
display lens with a soft, clean, dry,
anti-static cloth. Cleaning and polishing
products may damage the surface. Never
use alcohol, petrols and derivatives.

The controls for the main system functions are present on the steering wheel to make control easier.
The activation of the function selected is controlled, in some cases, by how long the button is pressed (short or long press) as
described in the table below.

The system is switched on/off by
pressing the (ON/OFF) button/knob.

Turn the button/knob clockwise to
increase the radio volume or
anticlockwise to decrease it.
The system is equipped with the
following tuners: AM, FM and DAB (for
versions/markets, where provided).
RADIO MODE SELECTION
Press the RADIO button on the front
panel to activate radio mode.
The different tuning modes can be
selected with the corresponding button
on the display (see fig. 3 ).

Each tuning mode can have a specific
set of presets.
SELECTING A
FREQUENCY BAND
Briefly press the "AM/FM" button to
switch from AM to FM and vice versa.
If the DAB tuner is available, briefly
press the "AM/FM", "AM/DAB",
"FM/DAB" buttons to select the desired
band.
DISPLAYED
INFORMATION
After the desired radio station is
selected on the display (see fig. 4 ) the
following information is shown:

At the top: the list of radio stations
stored (preset) is displayed; the station
being listened to is highlighted.
In the middle: display of the name of
the current radio station and the
buttons for selecting the previous or
next radio station.
At the bottom: display of the following
buttons:
"Browse": list of the radio stations
available;
"AM/FM", "AM/DAB", "FM/DAB":
selection of the desired frequency band
(button reconfigurable according to
the band selected: AM, FM or DAB);
"Tune" : manual radio station tuning
(not available for DAB radios);
"Info": additional information on the
source being listened to;
"Audio": access to the "Audio
setting" screen.

Briefly press buttons or on Press the "OK" button on the display to

a radio station.
Press the "Tune" button on the display,
then select the first number of the
desired radio station (see fig. 5 ).
Exit the "Direct Tune" screen
Press the "Exit" or "Radio" button on
the display to return to the main system

USB/iPod SOURCE
To activate the USB/iPod mode insert
the corresponding device (USB or iPod)
in the USB port located in the central
console.
If a USB/iPod device is inserted with the
system on, this starts playing the
tracks present on the device.
AUX SOURCE
To activate AUX mode, insert an
appropriate device in the AUX socket
on the vehicle.
When a device is inserted using the
AUX output socket the system starts
reproducing the AUX source
connected, if it is already being played.
Adjust the volume using the
button/knob on the front panel or
using the volume adjustment control on
the connected device.

IMPORTANT NOTES
The functions of the device connected
with the AUX socket are directly
managed by the device itself: it is not
possible to change track/folder/playlist
or control playing start/end/pause

After the first phone data transmission,
the procedure for transmitting and
updating the phonebook (if supported)
starts as soon as a Bluetooth®
connection is established between
mobile phone and system.
Whenever a mobile phone is connected
to the system, a maximum of 5000
contacts can be downloaded and
updated for each phone.

2D and 3D settings. Read Chapter

This type of zip code is used in
countries like Germany, France and
Belgium. If you perform a search using
the area zip code, the results include
all streets of an urban neighbourhood,
the entire city or towns corresponding

When a zip code is entered for an area,
you may obtain results regarding
multiple countries.
Note: if a search is performed using an
area zip code, the results will not
include a specific address.
This type of zip code is very useful to
reduce the number of search results. If,

type of route.
The types of route you can choose from
are as follows:
Fastest route: the fastest route
towards the destination. The route is
continuously verified, taking traffic
conditions into consideration;
Shortest route: the shortest route
towards the destination. This route
could require much longer than the
fastest route;
Most eco-friendly route: the most
economical route in terms of fuel
consumption;
Avoid motorways: with this type of
route you will avoid all motorways;
You can set the default type of route
from the "Settings" menu.
ROUTE
CHARACTERISTICS
You can choose to avoid certain
characteristics along the currently
planned route. Some examples are
given below.
Toll roads
Ferries and car shuttle trains
Carpool lanes
Unpaved roads
Note: carpool lanes are also known as
HOV lanes (High Occupancy Vehicle)

and are not present in every country. To
travel on these lanes, you may need
to have more than one person in the
vehicle, for example, or the vehicle may
need to use environmentally-friendly
fuel.
If you choose to avoid a characteristic
along the route, a new route will be

characteristic if you plan a new route.

To change the way you receive
speed camera warnings,
select the button "Sounds and
warnings" from the "Settings"
menu.
You can set the reporting method for
different types of speed cameras and
safety hazards. You can change the
settings and decide whether to receive
the warnings or not, or to display them
only when the allowed speed is
exceeded.
For example, if you want to change the
way you receive warnings near a fixed
speed camera, proceed as follows:
1. Select "Sounds and warnings" in
the "Settings" menu;
2. Select "Speed camera warnings";
3. Select "Fixed speed cameras";
4. Choose one of the following
warning options:
– Always
– Only in case of speeding
– Never
5. Click the "Back" button.

France you will receive warnings about
dangerous and risk areas. When you
cross the border, the type of warning
changes.
A danger area is an area specified as
such by French law. A risk area is a
temporary danger area signalled by the
user. The Danger areas service signals
both danger and risk areas in the same
way.
In danger and risk areas, there may be
one or more speed cameras or other
dangers:

When a faster route is available
If a faster route is found while you are
driving, Uconnect™ 5" Nav can
recalculate your journey to use the
faster route. Choose one of the
following options:
"Always choose the fastest route"
"Ask me"
"Don’t ask me again"
Always use this type of route
The types of route you can choose from
are as follows:
Fastest route: the route which
takes the least time;

 Shortest route: the shortest
distance between the locations you set.
This may not be the fastest route,
especially if the shortest route is
through a city centre;
Most ecological route - the most
fuel-efficient route for your journey;

Avoid motorways: this type of route
avoids all motorways.
Avoid on any route
You can choose to avoid ferries and car
shuttle trains, toll roads, carpool lanes
and unpaved roads. You can set the
way in which Uconnect™ 5" Nav
manages each one of these road
characteristics when a route is being
calculated.
Carpool lanes are also known as HOV
lanes (High Occupancy Vehicle) and are
not present in every country. To travel
on these lanes, you may need to have
at least one passenger in the vehicle
or the vehicle may need to use
environmentally-friendly fuel.
SOUNDS AND WARNINGS
Select "Settings" in the main
menu, then click on "Sounds
and warnings".

You can choose the type of sound
warning you want to receive while
driving:
Warning sounds. You receive
warning sounds;
None. No warning sound is
provided.
SPEED CAMERAS
WARNINGS

Select "Speed camera warnings". You
can set the reporting method for
different types of speed cameras and
safety hazards. You can change the
settings regarding how long in advance
the warning is generated and decide
whether to receive the warnings or not,
or to receive them only when the
allowed speed is exceeded.
SAFETY WARNINGS
Select "Settings" in the main
menu, then click on "Sounds
and warnings".
Select "Safety warnings". You can set
the reporting method by types of
danger areas and safety hazards. You
can change the settings for the
advanced warning time and decide
whether to receive the warnings or not,
or to display them only when the
allowed speed is exceeded.
Danger areas. This type of warning
is provided only in France where you
receive warnings only for danger areas;
Risk areas. This type of warning is
provided only in France where you

Accident black spots. This type
of warning is shown in areas with a high
percentage of road accidents;
In case of speeding. This warning
is played as soon as you exceed the
speed limit by more than 5 km/h (3
miles/hour). While accelerating, the

VOICE COMMANDS
USE OF THE VOICE
COMMANDS
Please follow the suggestions below to
be sure that the voice commands are
always recognised by the system:
speak at a normal volume;
always wait for the "beep" (warning
sound) before speaking;
the system is capable of recognising
the voice commands given, irrespective
of gender, tone of voice and intonation
of the person giving the instructions;
if possible, try and keep the noise in
the passenger compartment to a
minimum;
before giving voice commands, ask
other passengers not to talk. This is
to prevent misunderstanding since the
system may recognise other words
(in addition to or different from your
voice command) if several people are
speaking;
for optimum operation, it is
advisable to close the windows and the
sun roof (for versions/markets, where
provided) to avoid external interference;
to guarantee correct operation of the
voice commands for the connected
mobile phone, make sure that the
phonebook has been completely
downloaded (or updated) by the
Uconnect™ system: usually 5-10
seconds after pairing the phone with
the Uconnect™ system are enough.
WARNING Voice commands must
always be given in safe driving
conditions, in compliance with the laws
in force in the country where you are
driving and using the mobile phone
correctly. For languages not supported
by the system, voice commands are
not available.
IMPORTANT The volume of the voice
commands can only be adjusted while

Every time the button is pressed,
there is a "beep" and the display shows
a suggestion screen inviting the user
to give a command.
Quick use of voice interaction
The button, when pressed during a
system voice message, allows a voice
command to be given directly.
For example, if the system is giving a
help voice message and you know the
command to be given to the system,
pressing the button interrupts the
voice message and you can give the
desired voice command directly
(without having to listen to the whole
help voice message).
The button, if pressed when the
system is waiting for a voice command
by the user, closes the voice session.
