The objectives of the study were to: analyze the types and causes of non-performing assets (NPAs) in Indian banks sector-wise with a focus on public and private sector banks; examine the effects of NPAs and reasons for asset-liability mismatch; and determine the effectiveness of recovery channels and measures taken by banks and regulators to manage NPAs.
