Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920 in


Waukegan, Illinois. He found his passion for books
1920 at a really early age and never started writing at 12
years old.

When he was 14 years old he moved with his family


to Los Angeles, his family didn't have to money to
send him to college so he educated himself by 1934
going to the library on a daily basis.

His first published story was "Hollerbochen's


Dilemma" in the fanzine Imagination and he
1938 continued publishing several issues with no
success.

This year he submitted "Homecoming" to the


magazine Mademoiselle and the then editorial
assistant Truman Capote published the manuscript 1947
and he won a place in O. Henry Award Stories.

He wrote The Fireman which later was published as


Fahrenheit 451, the review of The Martian
chronicles by the writer Christopher Isherwood led
Bradbury's work to the big literary scene.
