Phrasal verbs with up and down

1. Look at the sentences with the phrasal verb pick up. Which one has an obvious meaning?
Which one has an idiomatic meaning?

1. I picked up a cup that was lying on the floor.


2. She picked me up at the hotel and took me to the party.

2. In these sentences the meanings of the phrasal verbs, are fairly obvious. Complete them with
up or down.
